Nah, it's not exactly a secret ("Rawls sucks cock" on a Homicide bathroom being an example), it's simply not important enough to make a difference in his work life. Kima's only matters because she gets significantly more screen time. Her love life doesn't even affect her work as much as McNulty's.

Rawls is in the same position as Bunk really. We have an idea of their nonprofessional lives, but we don't get a full picture. Bunk has scenes in the bar, and we see him hitting on various women. We never see him actually cheat on his wife, and I don't think we ever meet his wife. Rawls is gay, but it's not a thing that matters in his professional life.

Re: The Wire: The GOAT Show Discussion Thread

sorta off topic but any fans of David Simon's other work?

The Corner is a pretty good precursor to The Wire, not quite as complex but that same gritty Bmore street vibe.
I loved Generation Kill, its only 7 episodes but Ive retwatched it a few times and I think it might be better than any Iraq war movie, and Ziggy from The Wire is it, still playing a goof but a more likable one.
only watched S1 of Treme and I loved Bunks role and the music is fantastic but too many irritating characters put me off checking it out further.

back on topic

"this sentimental motherfucker just cost us money"

one of my fave moments of the last season.

Generation Kill is amazing. Easily the best thing made about the Iraq war.

Re: The Wire: The GOAT Show Discussion Thread

Yeah generation kill is another great (albeit very short) series. Pretty sure its based on the real life version of the writings of the tobias beacher guy( i dont remember his name in generation kill).

Re: The Wire: The GOAT Show Discussion Thread

I just noticed that the guy who plays D'angelo is the medic in The Walking Dead lol

Anyway, I'm halfway through the second season. Great stuff with the case of the dead bodies in the docks and a lot of new characters coming into play. I marked the fuck out when I saw Method Man in one of the episodes
