I dunno man, something about that storyline just doesnt quite work for me, maybe its that Vito isnt really a lovable or important character before that, in fact when we first find out he's gay he's presented as a devious predator type trying to intimidate Finn into bed. The little town he flees to is like a different universe to Jersey and I know thats the point but it breaks up the flow of those episodes. My fave stuff from it is the guys back home talking about it. Its like the whole story was an overlong way to look at their hypocritical views of homosexuality. I do love the part where Melfi brings up guys fucking eachother in prison and Tony responds "oh you get a pass for that".
The stuff later with Phil talking to Vito's son is funny as fuck too.
My favorite Vito scene is where he actually tries working for a living and is trying to count the hours down, we've all been there.
Back to The Wire, the thing that strikes me odd with the Rawls scene is it implies he lives this secret life no one knows about but he's a pretty public figure (commisioner, superintendent), he's on news reports and press conferences, do no gay people in Bmore read the news?
