Since it was mentioned, I liked Safety Not Guaranteed. It wasn't supposed to be anything but a light hearted, fun indie flick and it did it's job well. Anything with Miss Plaza is a from me.

Also, I have Tetsuya Nakashima's 'Confessions' to watch tonight, looking forward to it.

How could anyone not love the ending to SNG too?

Have a blast. If possible watch it preferably on BR. You don't want to miss the visual impact.

Cape Fear is awesome, I might even go as far as to say it was my favorite De Niro movie.

I got two suggestions for a movie similar to it, Ricochet with Denzel and Fear (Not sure if related) with Mark Whildenburg and Resse Witherspoon. Thoughts?

Cape Fear is good not great imo. De Niro is fantastic in it and I love the surrealism of it all, but something was missing with that film. Definitely not one of Scorsese's best, but nowhere near his worst either.

Loved Safety Not Guaranteed btw. Absolutely loved it. One of my favourites last year.

The Cape Fear remake is pretty damn good, some scenes are sensational and yeah, De Niro fucking steals the movie, Nick Nolte bores me to tears though. I'm a much bigger fan of the original, I mean god, Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck, I'm getting tingly thinking about it.

Shit now I've got Gregory Peck on my mind... time to watch Boys From Brazil again.

Oh lord do I love that movie, Gregory Peck chewing scenery, Lawrence Olivier giving what almost certainly isn't his best performance but his kinda hammy (Yeah I said it) stage acting fits the fucking tone perfectly, Steve Guttenberg is.... actually really good and fucking GENERAL GOGOL, ALFRED FROM THE 89-97 BATMAN MOVIES AND CYBIL FAWLTY ARE IN IT.

Boys From Brazil is awesome, have you read the book? It might be slightly better. I'm not sure, I go back and forth between the two.

Yeah I read the book, reserved it at the library years back, went in to get it and was given this ratty, back cover-less thing from 1977 and told to keep it. I think, think I prefer the film, its a tough call though, all comes down to the final scene

Spoiler for HITLAH:
I prefer the more subtle scene of the Hitler clone developing the photos of brutality to the book's Hitler Clone dreaming of pretty much the Nuremberg Rally

Its one of only two book to movie adaptions where I don't have a clear favourite between the two mediums, the other one being The Godfather, sure the book has those really useless chapters about the maid Sonny had sex with getting vagina shrinking surgery but I at least get the point of trying to satarise 60s Hollywood and of course the book has the Vito flashbacks from II in it.

The Shining comes under that too I guess but the book and the film are so bloody different aside from the haunted hotel/crazy dad side of things that... I find it hard to associate them.

I agree on The Shining, I enjoy both the film and the book but obviously they're totally different. I think I do prefer the film though. I'm always torn on American Psycho too, I love both the book and the film but again, they're actually pretty different. The book is definitely a lot more graphic and satirical though so I'll probably go with that.
