WF Book Club - Currently Reading The Casual Vacancy

We've been discussing in The Book Thread about starting a book club as a few of us have been looking for new books/authors/genres and feel that this could be a good way for us all to discover something new, as well as developing a strong discussion on each of the books we choose.

Currently, the tepid plans are whatever the outcome of this poll we will go with, and Faraday had the idea of just having a member pick the following book to read after we're done with the discussion of the previous one, with his choice being first.

With cheap second-hand copies, libraries, classic free books and the ability to... ahem, borrow these books online, we should have as many different types of books available. I have no problem sending books through peoples e-mails etc, as long as we do little things like perhaps liking the authors facebook, following them on Twitter and sharing them, hitting their websites to drive their traffic up etc just to give them our support and we aren't just downloading and reading their books for nothing. I always thought an online library would be a great idea anyway, this is similiar.

So would you be up for it? A book club on Wrestling Forum.

(I won't include a NO option in the poll, because if you're not up for it then you wont be voting for it, haha.)

If you have any other ideas to go about it, then that would be great also, although I think keeping it simple would be best.

Just to let people know, I voted for 1 book a fortnight.

In for week/fortnight. Don't care which. I can read a book a week, but not sure everyone will have the time to do that?

I suppose there should be an understanding that once a book is picked you can put it in the title/get a mod to and there'll be spoilers for said book in here.

I'm in. I'm always reading a couple of books per month anyway so it would be nice to be able to have a nice discussion about them with people. I voted for a book a week but I'm cool with anything really.

In on this. I read quite a bit, but don't really discuss books with people so I'd love to take part in this. I voted for a book every fortnight but I wouldn't have a problem with doing a book a week.

The first rule of the book club is you do not talk about book club.

re: WF Book Club - Currently Reading The Casual Vacancy

I would certainly be in for it if it were one book a month.

I don't know if I speak for most people here but with work, hanging out, etc., I personally don't get a chance to read every single night, and think a span of a month for finishing a book is a much better option.

re: WF Book Club - Currently Reading The Casual Vacancy

I voted for one book a fortnight, but could also go with one every month. I already have a lot of books on my list to get to, and pretty much always have the next few ready to go once I am done with whatever I am currently on. Most of them are in series, so I am already invested in the stories so far. But it usually only takes me less than a week to read a book anyway, so fitting another one in there is no problem, what with being able to renew from the library over and over and such.
