Nothing for a while.

So is the book club a no go, then?
Or does bumping this thread help generate more interest?

Yes I'm in. I'm a very slow reader, long books (anything 800 pages or more) take me at least a month so I'll go for the fortnight option seeing as most of the books I imagine will be of a standard length.

I think a book club is a great idea, reading more is never a bad idea. I think one a month is perfect in that it gives everyone a good amount of time to stay on the same page....no pun intended.

I can pretty much finish anything in a day, it's more a matter of remembering to come online. But not everyone reads as fast as everyone else, and not everyone has time to be online every day, so one book a month sounds like a good plan. Besides, it makes it easier to plot out that way, if we just use calendar months. It gives us plenty of time to have really good discussions, as well.

So Faraday was supposed to pick the first book, yes? Pick the book, post the name and author here, and PM everyone who responded to the poll letting them know the book club is starting in May, and May's book is (whatever you picked) so to pick up a copy (or to PM you, or SrsLii, or Issues_Sunshyne to have an ebook copy emailed to them) and be ready to get started in May. And then Faraday, since it's your book, be ready to facilitate the discussion in May, like have a few questions ready to post here that you want to guide the discussion with, at least to begin with.

Sound good? Because we will need to get on that ASAP if we want to get started in May.

Hopefully this is the kind of poll where you can get all the names of people who responded, yes?

Otherwise, you may need to start a new thread, to get attention again. Like with a title "WF Book Club to start in May, info here" or something like that. And just PM everyone who responded here and in the other thread.

I'm up for it but I need more than a week, just because I have other reading that has to be done (not reading for entertainment) and lack the free hours to plow through novels quickly right now.

Uh, I don't think I was picking first. Someone jump in and suggest something and we can start. I don't have anything off the top of my head and have been busy lately so if someone wants to suggest a book then I'll be able to read it. Should probably change the title to the current book we're reading to warn of spoilers.

Actually if no one chimes in can I suggest "The Casual Vacancy" by JK Rowling. I hope too many haven't read it, but it's basically not going to be a hard book to read/get into for an introductory book and it should be fairly quick/light reading - which is kind of ideal for me atm. Plus I'm curious to see has her writing improved/how it feels compared to the harry potter series considering it's more "adult".

Hopefully there are no strong objections. It helps it's on my kindle. I should be able to finish this within a week, though. So if someone could change the title - and warn of spoilers so we don't need to use spoiler tags in the thread.

I literally can't get the names though. So a new thread, might be ideal.

I haven't read this so don't feel the need to dictate the discussion or anything, just whatever springs to mind when I'm reading it obviously.

I'd be up for one a fortnight/month but I'd only be able to start early June.

A Book I'd recommend though is Charlotte Street by Danny Wallace.
