Re: Game of Thrones: Season 3. TV Series Discussion. NO BOOK SPOILERS...NONE
Good episode, even though it's still inferior to the last one, which is understandable, considering that one is the greatest episode this series has presented us with.
Tywin/Olenna was gold. Entertaining as hell. Legit lost it when Olenna asked Tywin if he never exhibited homosexual tendencies in his youth. Thought Tywin would lose his shit, but he kept his posture and replied appropriately, which somehow made it even funnier.
Even though I'm not really a fan of Jon, I really enjoyed his scenes with Ygritte. I think they really developed their relationship as something serious, important and genuine, which is good considering what might come after.
The Brotherhood's scenes are naturally awesome, but the actors that portray Beric and Thoros just make it even more awesome, especially Thoros.
Torturer/Theon was perfect. Theon is my second favorite character in the whole series, and I hate ..., but I think the actor that played him was spot on. The cast of this series is so accurate and fantastic it's unreal. The only thing I could change in the Torturer falls in the looks department, to make him more fearful and disgusting, but that's completely secondary.
Jaime the GOAT only had a few minutes, but after his godlike performance in the episode prior, it's understandable. It was still good in an entertaining level, considering him trying to cut his food with considerable difficulty and Brienne dressed in a gown.
Littlefinger/Varys is always a delight to see, they have an incredible chemistry, which is expected, considering their characters and the fantastic job both actors do with their characters.
I'm ambivalent to the Joffrey scene. It's not like we need even more reasons to dislike or even hate him. But considering they wanted to get rid of Ros, they did it while increasing the hate for Joffrey even more. At least it served a purpose, even though it was not really needed.
With this said, after reading all the books, I'm starting to lose some of the love I had for the series, which is not fair, I know. I still like it a lot, it's just that it's not the same thing anymore. And this is no one's fault, it just happens the books are EPIC. They are immensely incredible, in another level, and after reading them all, it's only natural that my love for the series decreased a bit while my love for the books improved astronomically. The changes that are made in the series, deviating from the books sometimes, do not help, even though it's completely understandable why these changes exist. Like someone pointed out earlier, the changes irritate me, even though I understand their existence, but I just cannot help myself.
It's still the greatest series out there, with an amazing cast, incredible actors, amazing production and they deserve every praise they get.

"So many vows...they make you swear and swear. Defend the king. Obey the king. Keep his secrets. Do his bidding. Your life for his. But obey your father. Love your sister. Protect the innocent. Defend the weak. Respect the gods. Obey the laws. It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or the other.”
