Re: Game of Thrones: Season 3. TV Series Discussion. NO BOOK SPOILERS...NONE

They film a lot of scenes very close to where I live in Ireland, there's principal filming in Belfast of course, but all around the countryside and coast here get used too. I know plenty of people who have scrounged extras work on it etc. E.G. Walder Frey's wife who Catelyn killed is apparently my friend's sister's uni friend. (Disclaimer: could be total bullshit) and a few girls on my course got work as Winterfell extras. Lucky beggars

The aforementioned sister is also a theatre worker here, and she shared some lurid stories with me the other night about Conleth Hill and Ian McElhinney from her encounters with them in the theatre scene. Too libellous to repeat though. Conleth Hill visited my school when I was there a few years back, he seemed very cool and approachable, but has apparently been known to be not so on occasion.

I'm not reading ahead of the show.

I like seeing surprises through visuals better

I finished reading the first book yesterday, it's great. Ordered the rest of the set on Amazon but I'm not reading ahead of the show either.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 3. TV Series Discussion. NO BOOK SPOILERS...NONE

The third season is based on the first half of the novel A Storm of Swords. Benioff had previously said that A Storm of Swords would need to be adapted in two seasons on account of its length. Benioff and Weiss also noted that they thought of Game of Thrones Season 3 DVD as an adaptation of the novel series as a whole, rather than of individual books, which gave them the liberty to move scenes back and forth across books according to the requirements of the screen adaptation. A part of me hoped they'd break with the books and just have Tyrion leap from the table and stick his dinner knife right into Joffrey's eye. The look on Tywin's face would have been worth it.
