That was season 5, which was arguably the best season. Season 6 sucked, Season 7 was awesome and season 8 was pretty good too. Jack not giving a fuck in the final episodes was awesome.

Just seen the synopsis of Season 6, that's the one I finished. So just Season 7 & 8 I never got around to watching. Was in first year of Uni when I blitzed through Seasons 2-6 after my cousin got Season 1 as a gift from my other cousin and we spent like a couple of weeks watching it. Think I had exams around the time Season 6 was finished so I put off 7 and then never got around to rewatching the show.

Loved everything so far. The show does a great job at making each of the main characters truly awful and conceited people and then managing to shine them in a better light moments later before once again highlighting their selfish ways. All of the main cast so far add to the show. Charlie and Dee generally come off as more naive & simple people but in Charlie's case he's already proven to be the most despicable of the lot with his antics in episode 4. In many ways he's less of an obvious asshole like Mac & Dennis, but when you strip back and actually look at what he's done he becomes a lot more sinister and less appealing. Like Mac is pretty much the most obvious dickhead of the group in regular conversation, but so far Dennis & Charlie's most despicable acts have trumped Mac's. Though his story in Episode 7 of Season 1 really highlighted how fucked up he is.

There's a lot of great humour in the show. Charlie's constant fits of anger and high pitched screaming are always welcomed, and the Season 2 episode might have been the best example of that when he, Dennis & Mac are trapped outside the bar after being fenced in and they all slowly unravel in the space of 20 seconds when they can't move. Loved the teenagers commenting how much of an asshole Mac was when they all crash the teenagers party in Episode 5, the fact it played off an earlier joke that Mac was an obvious douche who nobody liked in High School was even better. Charlie getting caught up in teenage lingo and high school cliques in the same episode was pretty great as well.

De Vito looks to have added to the show already from the 2 episodes of Season 2. Brings a chaotic and selfish attitude that lends itself to the others and the friction between he, Dennis, Dee & likely Charlie already looks promising. His soon to be ex-wife is also a rather amazing snobbish character. Lucille Booth may not have been this cold and snobby to common folk.
Really happy that my recommendation and Ziggler-like selling of the show payed off, I knew you'd love it the moment you mentioned The Thick of it and Arrested Developement as being great shows.

You're about to watch the Welfare episode which is great, and you'll also be introduced to Dennis and Dee's mom which provides an interesting dynamic to season 2.

I love how you pointed out the scene where the high school kids label Mac an asshole, that to me encompasses the Sunny humor brilliantly. It's a show where the main characters are absurbly flawed, but everyone around them will behave as you'd expect them to. It really is as if you thrust these guys into the real world and observe the action/reaction of their follies on the outside world.

If you enjoyed the first seaon in it's entirety, it's all uphill from here as the momentum is sustained all the way to the 8th season

On episode 4 atm, so aye just seen that episode. That was sensational. Loved Mac and Charlie's side story looking for 'slaves' and debating about whether it was insensitive to say such a thing in front of other races. Loved the twist when Dennis & Dee said they needed to book a new appointment on such short notice.

Agreed with everything else you said so far.

Hands down the most soul crushing and saddest moment in the show's run. The way it dawned on everyone and then you see him looking for others to save, then he spots Chloe and is glad she's ok before he realises his fate.... . Chloe's reaction as well as Jack's just seals it.

I actually won on Pointless the other week when 24 characters was the Pointless question at the end. Edgar was a pointless answer.

Respect the plight. Now let's go get us some slaves!

That's awesome, though i'm not at all surprised. They're in a good place right with FX giving them the freedom they want, and I know they're having a blast writing the shows. They could go 20 seasons and it wouldn't get redundant for me.

Season 4 of The Sopranos is brilliant so far. Episode 2 was maybe the best of the whole series or definitely top 3. Fantastic.

Gah, I really need to watch The Sopranos. If it was on Netflix I would eat it up.
