I just finished episode eleven of 'House Of Cards' and goddamn this show just gets better and better. Frank is just brilliantly played by Kevin Spacey. He's the ultimate puppeteer.

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

I've watched the last 4 episodes of Modern Family. I enjoyed them all, we've (the guys who watch it) have spoken about it before, but I think that Modern Family's never been 'bad', the 3rd was the worst season so far, but by Modern Family standards, it was still at least decent, a 7/10, I think season 4 has been better, and the last 4 episodes I've watched, 13-17, are the best run, of the last 2 seasons, everything overall, but 2 particular consistent highlights:

Phil and Cam, back at their characters best, much more natural, character stuff, they've both had the creativeness in these episodes to show the best of each character.

Edit: 'Readback' thought: These 2 characters, Phil and Cam, are the best characters in the show subtly, subtle humor is the best for them, but yet their often still the funniest/highlights, the subtle quality (even if you didn't enjoy the episodes overall) was great.

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Finished Season 1 of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and now onto the 3rd episode of Season 2.

Loved everything so far. The show does a great job at making each of the main characters truly awful and conceited people and then managing to shine them in a better light moments later before once again highlighting their selfish ways. All of the main cast so far add to the show. Charlie and Dee generally come off as more naive & simple people but in Charlie's case he's already proven to be the most despicable of the lot with his antics in episode 4. In many ways he's less of an obvious asshole like Mac & Dennis, but when you strip back and actually look at what he's done he becomes a lot more sinister and less appealing. Like Mac is pretty much the most obvious dickhead of the group in regular conversation, but so far Dennis & Charlie's most despicable acts have trumped Mac's. Though his story in Episode 7 of Season 1 really highlighted how fucked up he is.

There's a lot of great humour in the show. Charlie's constant fits of anger and high pitched screaming are always welcomed, and the Season 2 episode might have been the best example of that when he, Dennis & Mac are trapped outside the bar after being fenced in and they all slowly unravel in the space of 20 seconds when they can't move. Loved the teenagers commenting how much of an asshole Mac was when they all crash the teenagers party in Episode 5, the fact it played off an earlier joke that Mac was an obvious douche who nobody liked in High School was even better. Charlie getting caught up in teenage lingo and high school cliques in the same episode was pretty great as well.

De Vito looks to have added to the show already from the 2 episodes of Season 2. Brings a chaotic and selfish attitude that lends itself to the others and the friction between he, Dennis, Dee & likely Charlie already looks promising. His soon to be ex-wife is also a rather amazing snobbish character. Lucille Booth may not have been this cold and snobby to common folk.

Is it good Kiz? I'm a huge fan of Pilkington and Gervais in general but just haven't made time to watch it yet. A few folk I know who are mad Office/Idiot Abroad nutters absolutely love the show, so I have high hopes.

Gets me every time.

Charlie has likability for me even when you realize his debauchery riddled life. Could do with his natural humor which comes spurting out in those hilarious fits of nonsensical anger. He's almost too goofy to dislike. He just wants to be loved. (so he'll stalk until he gets what he wants)

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Yeah he's lot more bubbly and initally likeable as proven by his antics in the Season finale with the two twins from his old High School. He's clearly just a guy isolated from reality and unaware of his conscious efforts and how they can implied by others. I mean jesus christ, Episode 2 of Season and his directing of THE video is borderline sick, but with Charlie you truly believe he has no sense of right and wrong and isn't aware of how others would perceive it.

Mac & Dennis come off as more inherently dislikable initially, though Mac despite being a known docuhe still hasn't done anything close to Dennis and Charlie's worst acts so far. Though befriending the transvestite 'to get first go when she has surgery' wasn't far off. Loved the recurring gag of him punching women in the face when they sneak up on him through instinct. "Its ok, she's a man.". "Is that a hate crime? Yeah, get him!" was brilliant.

Yeah, I'm a big Gervais and Pilkington fan, I have a few episodes of Derek to watch, but I've watched since the pilot almost a year ago, give it a watch, it's different, I like it.
