Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

I decided to re-watch Twin Peaks, The Wire and The Sopranos. It's gonna be a looong trip. I'm already done with S1 of The Sopranos. The G.O.A.T. shit. Ohh, those memories...

Is Twin Peaks good? I'm a fan of Lynch's films but I've just never got around to watch the show.

Has anyone watched 'House Of Cards' on Netflix? I'm only a few episodes from finishing it and it's been superb.
Yeah House of Cards was brilliant, was talking about it with Scrilla on the old thread. Netflix are gambling with this, but the direction is amazing. David Fincher makes the show feel like a prolonged movie, and the cast is perfect. Managed to get through all episodes aside from the last three which i"m looking forward to completing. Love the film noir feel to it.

It's awesome that they dropped all the episodes in one fell swoop since it's an exclusive deal.

It's great minus the bonehead ending pushed by the network.

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

I'm currently watching the final series of the Wire for the first time, after not getting into the first series I've really enjoyed #2 onwards.

I'm at the end of Big Bang Theory #5, at the end of Rome #1 and mid-way through Boardwalk Empire #3 and CSI NY #7 all on the back-burner. So many shows, so little time and still always looking to pick up more.

I've been thinking of watching Friends, Baywatch, ER, Saved by the Bell and the OC from scratch but I fancy something new at the same time.

Plus, they've now commissioned another series after this one! It's gone on way too long.
To be fair I think next season will be the last. I still like it but you can tell it isn't as good as it used to be. Too many obvious attempts at humour rather than clever jokes and puns. They've also fallen into the trap most comedy TV shows fall into at some point which is they've made the characters so extreme that it hurts the quality of the show. Robin is probably the most obvious example of this. Now they're at the point where they have to rehash their better jokes from seasons past, like with the wink-fest with Barney, Ted and Carly. I remember Barney doing that to Ted in a earlier season.

It really is superb. Fincher is my favourite director, so as soon as I heard about this series I was psyched. I totally agree with you about it feeling like a prolonged movie. Spot on. And putting all the episodes up at the same time was very helpful.

Ok, thanks. I only know a bit about it but it sounds good.

To all UK'ers, watch Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe.

It's just like Russell Howards Good News, but funny
