Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Stream is fine. I can't be bothered searching for streams because I wouldn't know where to start with non downloads so HOOK ME UP BROTHA. Only 2 episodes left. Tearin up a little now.

Best season of PARKS? I remember thinking Season 4 was better than 3 after it ended. This current season might be even better though. I still think Season 1's good fwiw. It's not on the same level but I was never struggling to get through Season 1 and not enjoying it. It goes onto another level once Season 2 hits and then an astronomical level once Adam Scott and Rob Lowe come into it.

If I can just chime in on the 'best season of Parks' discussion - Although I'm yet to see season 5 (which everyone seems to love, which is awesome), I'd say S3 is probably the best. Not only was it consistently funny, but the storylines were all good and I don't recall a bad episode. To be fair, every season since 1 have been awesome and that's why it's a top show. Looking forward to starting S5 soon.

Community was kind of similar for me when I first watched. It took me about half of season 1 until I really 'got it'. It doesn't really click into gear until midway through that season anyway. It ends really strong though with some of my favourite episodes.
I enjoyed season 1 of parks but the tweak for season 2 onwards made it a lot better.

Didn't feel Community for ages during season 1 either, but I had been mostly watching mockumentary style comedy at the time, so I think that played a part.

Season 2 is the best of Parks purely for Will Arnet's cameo

Community starts extremely "slow" compared to what it will eventually become, but when it kicks off it surpasses any other comedy on TV imo. The Arrested Development comparison is spot on, it feels like its logical successor (with the obvious exception of Archer)

Yeah I'd even call the first 2/3 episodes of Community shit. No idea why I kept watching but happy I did 'cause it got super fun after the initial hurdles of setting the scene and characters. Does feel like they've lost their touch a bit though last 2 seasons but that might just be me. I laugh at Parks way more.

I think I'd say season 4, season 5 quite possibly, come the end of the season.

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Yeah I'm convinced Season 5 will be the best of the bunch by the end barring a dramatic fall in quality. Think what's impressed me most is the balance between pure Pawnee centred episodes which focus on the town, the department and the townsfolk and their reactions to policies and then the more story & character driven episodes which have relied more on strong writing and acting rather than out and out humour. Parks has always had that immense ability to be a very strong show even when the jokes aren't as funny as others (mainly because of the character development, writing and overall acting) but this season in particular for me has channeled that balance with remarkable grace. To see them be able to do an episode revolving around Leslie & Ron quarreling 2 episodes after their scenes together in Jail and not have it feel wasteful or unrealistic was a testament to the quality of the writers.

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Yes, absolutely, sometimes episodes are more 'sweet' than funny, and it completely works because of the feel and mold the show has created gradually over their 5 seasons, so many great moments, and a great show to 'have', as in own in some way, I'm keeping all the seasons, and to have them for whenever I want/ever.

This thread, potentially Blarg (), with Cody, you and many others, serves as a great write up and incentive for PARKS, one of my favorite shows.

Check it out, if you haven't, and not many people have!

Re: TV Show Thread: Season/Series 2 (NO FUCKING SPOILERS)

Yeah that's one of the staples of Parks that separates it from other comedies, it doesn't need to be the funniest episode of a bunch in order to be considered one of the best of the season. There's so much varied depth in the humour in any one episode for people to have numerous episodes as their favourite & the character development, writing & acting is so strong that episodes which are more grounded in a realistic tone and less relient on jokes can stand out as better than the funniest episodes.

Also blarg, Amy Poehler is sensational on the show. She has that sweet and innocent charm about her that makes the Leslie character so infectious and a delight to see and it distinguishes her from other lead characters in comedies. The development of Pawnee and Leslie as the most passionate advocate of the good in Pawnee and what it represents is a warming presence that adds so much to her future scenes and episodes in general.

I can promise you one good write up for the first season since i'm fully intent on seeing that through till the end. At the very worse, if the show is unbearable, i'll just seek out SWANSON compilations on Youtube and review those instead

WC. She did kinda win me over in the sense that I forgot how annoying she can be outside of that show. It's all about the dynamic of her character how well she plays off of the other ones. I has hope.
