Season 6 bitches!
Spoiler for .:
Weakest season so far for me. Still had it's great moments like Lethal Weapon 5 which is one of the best moments of the entire series. Charlie and Dennis at the Charity Event was great too although the other arc in that episode kinda sucked. Couple of episodes that I thought were pretty bad like the opening double episode and then too many just decent episodes. "Who Got Dee Pregnant" was my favourite overall episode of the season. "Dee Gives Birth" was great too though and I loved the payoff. I love the callbacks they keep throwing into past episodes like Charlie showing his flexibility from wearing short jorts like Dennis showed him in the Extreme Makeover episode. I think it was Season 5 but I gotta mention how great it was having the old video camera clips from "Dee Gets Set on Fire" at the start and end of their Paddy's Merchandise video.

Also, I'll be damned if I can find a download link for the Xmas episode as every pack seems to end at E12.

Although I feel the show hit their highest marks within Season Two.
This weekend i'll try to get into a few more episodes of both. Not sure how wise it is to double up like that, but f*ck it, i'm too torn right now to figure out which one i'll go the distance with first.

Both shows are plenty different that watching both at one time won't allow you to get the world's mixed up. Especially when you see each find their niche. It's natural for myself to watch episodes of Community & PARKS back to back thanks to their scheduling on Thursdays.

Now if only you take to The Office US, you'll be set. Seem to be alone with my personal love of that program with some lads here. S'ok. I got 7 seasons on DVD that shows me why I <3 it. That elusive Season Four will be owned one day.

Season 7 out of the way. This mean I've surpassed SI? Take that bitch!
Spoiler for .:
Was kinda worried it was going more along Season 6's path with the first 2 episodes but then from "Frank Reynold's Little Beauties" up to "The Gang Gets Trapped" might be the best run the show's had. Beauty Pageant and Storm episodes are 2 of my favourite's of the entire series. The show never fails when it transcends into utter chaos like the looting scene. Beauty Pageant episode was just brilliant Always Sunny awkward humour with Frank trying so hard not to come off like a pedo. "Frank's Brother" I loved as an against the norm episode and the Lance Reddik cameo ruled. Was in stitches at "Shadynasty's" when the white guy said it as 2 words. "The ANTI-Social Network" and "The Gang Gets Trapped" are great examples of how nuts the gang get at such minor details and how the outside world perceives them as being totally nuts. Same for "Thunder Gun Express". "How Mac Got Fat" and the "High School Reunion" double parter I thought weren't on the same level but they were still good. Fat Mac throughout the season was so great, especially when he gets pissed and just starts yelling uncontrollably. Ronald Macdonald had me in stitches. Loved the ending to the High School Reunion episode though with Schmitty stealing the waitress right from under Charlie's nose giving Charlie another reason to hate him. Probably take Season 3 for overall quality but Season 7 has some of the strongest episodes of the show's season.

I absolutely LOVE the office seasons 2-6 (Would personally say its probably my favourite comedy show over the past 10 years or so), after that though its just downright sad at what the series has become.

Finally got around to checking out the respective Pilots for two of WOOLCOCK's recommendations. Got a feel for the humor of both, and I don't know which show i'll start off with. They're both interesting for different reasons, and equally engaging. Apparently Parks and Rec developes into a beast, but i'm also feeling the charm of Community. Community is much more accessible, but i'm also a sucker for the more subtle, sharper and slightly darker humor that Park and Rec seems to draw inspiration from. Here's my review for both:

Spoiler for Parks and Rec Pilot:

Park and Recs episode 1, I could instantly grasp this show's charm even knowing that it fleshes itself out better with subsequent episodes. Based on one episode, I can tell that each episodes will be connected and meant to be followed linearly unlike the Seinfeld "pick any episode" formula. Reminded me of the Office UK right off the bat with the talking head Documentary approach, and the delivery of the humor is also very similar.

The overzealous Leslie is already a character they can play off of in countless different scenarios, and the girl that plays her already has the facial expressions down pat. She's clearly coming across as borderline mentally ill, but if it's a show meant to be far fetched like "Always Sunny" then that may not be too much to be looking into.

Swanson is by far the most interesting character , his "I don't give a fuck" cynicism and shady allure is brilliantly incarnated by Nick Offerman. From comparing his business model to Chuck E. Cheese to affirming his absolute obnoxiousness by giving the camera THAT LOOK as he throws Lesie's Pit photos in the trash just an instantly likeable character who leaves an exclamation mark at the end of the episode with his Will Arnett-esque adulation of the Bob Knight portrait in the office, leaving you wanting to see more of this guy.

The Ann and Tom characters did nothing for me so far, but i'm sure i'll get used to them as time goes on. I did get a chuckle from Tom's derailing of the Pit issue by tangentially flirting with Rashida.

That brings me to the humor delivery. It didn't make me laugh at every turn, but I did enjoy some of the lines like at the Community complaints where the guy talks about the head of the Police being a 9th degree Mason. Definitely my type of humor , and I can see them building off of that as time goes on. The pacing is good, the delivery is good, and the Swanson character is perfect.

Spoiler for Community Pilot:
Right off the bat, this seems more snappy than some of my favorite comedies, but less poignant. Comes across like a typical American sitcom reminiscent of the IT Crowd, only with better production, a more interesting cast and the dialogue is a bit more clever. The bombastic and juvenile feel of the show is something I need to get used to after being spoiled by shows like Arrested Developement and Always Sunny, but it shouldn't be a very difficult adjustment. Despite this, I was thoroughly entertained.

Episode's high point was Jeff's motivational speech to the Community trying to win favors with Britta. Little things throughout that made me laugh such as the line "We can give Ben Affleck an Oscar" , Pierce's "The Dalai Lama and I..." line after Jeff talks about the need for his wisdom, or even the stabs at Michael Douglas are great touches that help balance out the slapstick, and it's nice to know they're not afraid to reference well known people and take shots at them. Little things like Pierce telling Jeff "You remind me of me when I was your age" and Jeff responding with "Well, guess I deserve that" gave me a good laugh.

The characters are varied, everyone seems comfortable in their roles and that could make for a very entertaining dynamic. Jeff is already showing signs of being a self-conceited prick 'ala Dennis Reynolds, but he's also very smart, and it's fun to listen to his nuggets of wisdom even if he's being deceptive. His romantic link to Britta is an interesting storyarc in and of itself, and her "easy going yet tough nut to crack" personality makes it fun to see where this will lead. Ana seems to be the most charismatic of the bunch, and I can tell she'll be a force to be reckoned with based on the cult following she has garnered out of all the characters.

It was a nice touch to end the episode with a John Hughes homage by playing a rendition of the Breakfast Club theme song. Definitely looking forward to more.
That got me hard. Great to see you dug both. FWIW I wouldn't say Parks Season 1 isn't very good, moreso the humour and tone of the show is so far removed from everything that follows that it comes off like the basic premise for a show that would develop soon after and work out the kinks and in the process craft an acclaimed comedy that will surely go down as a contender for the best of the decade when it ceases production. Its a good way to become invested in the characters initially with the assurance the community of Pawnee and its additional townsfolk will serve a greater purpose from here on out. Tom is a wonderful satire of the hipster douchebag and has some stellar scenes/moments and Ann despite being arguably the weakest character in terms of actual depth is still crucial with her interactions with key characters and Rashida Jones playing her to perfection in a number of different tones.

Community for me is initially more accessible, but whilst Seasons 1-3 are of a very high quality I do feel Season 2 as Cody said is the peak. Luckily the heights are prevalent in every Season so its not a disservice to 1 & 3 when making that comment, but the beauty of Parks & Rec to me is that it surpasses its quality season upon season (debatable if 4 is better than 3 to some, but the difference isn't too noticeable and easily arguable either way to me) and continues to eclipse your expectations just when you question how a show can survive and maintain such consistency.

Don't get the "without Michael Scott the show sucks" mentality. Or even not enjoying Season Seven. Seven held one of the greatest, and smartest ways to tie up a loose-end for a character, episodes in Threat Level Midnight. Lordy it's a beautiful dream seeing that come to life. Hilarious stuff. As for post-Michael Office, the only negative I can think of is how in Season Nine they decided to turn Andy into a bit of a foil again. Only rooting from a far more negative seed than he was in Season Three. Feels...odd. If not dumb considering they spent a great deal in Season Eight to make him the underdog, lovable new boss who won everyone over - including & especially Erin. Other than that it is all good with me. I miss Gabe this season. Luckily he showed up for an episode.

---------

WOOLCOCK mentioned best season for PARKS. Hmm. Unsure if I've really thought about it. With that glorious program my mentality at this point as been come whatever may. From Two - on, it has been a total love affair. The snubbing of One only comes b/c the show was finding its niche that time. Didn't come together till Two imo. Where as a program say like The Office set its ground well within the confines of their first season. If I HAD to pick one off the top of my head, thinking I might go with season Three of PARKS at this rate. Of course whenever I own both seasons for a vigorous rewatch of both, it could flip flop. Season Four does have some excellent moments. That's for damn sure. Entire program as a whole leaves me

Truth be told, I was never thrilled with the idea of getting into P&R because I never cared for Amy Poehler in general, but she's toterable in this so far. I have all the episodes on queue and should get through the entire season by the end of the week is my errands aren't too hardcore. Community will be next.

Great recommendation fine Sir.. as the Ron would say:
