Actors/Actresses who can get away with it..
by "it" I mean shit movies. For example, Sylvester Stallone is allowed to make Expendables 2, and probably 3; but a lot of people will still go and see it and love because of all his past movies, while not necessarily great, being classics. Or Morgan Freeman; he can be the bad guy in Wanted (which I found to be a lousy movie; cool action scenes though) and still be a respected actor.
make a list, explain why, do it however you want...
Mel Gibson - Lethal Weapon, Mad Max, BraveHeart. He can pretty much get drunk and blame the Jews for everything, also talk to a Beaver, and still be a box office success.
Jonny Depp - He has done a lot, nearly all his roles are crazy in fact. He can do the most serious movie, to the craziest, to the funniest, to Jump Street 21. He can pretty much pull off any role, so I'd say he is worthy.
Daniel Day Lewis - The second coming of Jesus. He can do it. All of it. he also doesn't have a bad rap, so he's pretty much good.

Al Pacino -> Jack & Jill. It's like a bullet proof vest if you will.

Daniel Day-Lewis simply makes any movie better.
I'd say De Niro? He's been in a lot of films over the past few years, many being pretty average but they won't tarnish his legacy.

It's a thing of reputation over "quality", so in the end is just perception. The more "serious" and "artistic" you're the most that you can get away with everything. Even if you're a bad actor in reality look at Hale Berry, Angelina Jolie or Sean Penn

Danny Trejo and Michael Madsen, I'll watch any old shit these two are in, and both have had to take roles in less than stellar movies for a paycheck, and they'll still end up the best thing in the movie.
