Didn't feel off at all. Wasn't perfect, but it didn't feel off. I'm happy the show is still running.

Exactly my thoughts. I haven't found Abed's stuff really funny for a while now, I feel like they use his "imagination" way too much.

PARKS on the other hand was fantastic.

Enjoyed it well enough, hardly one of the best of the series. Maybe a 5.5/10

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

This is my show, it's about me,
And all my friends on Abed TV
My happy place, nothing but fun,
Nothing but laughs and smiles and then we rerun
For those times when life's too hard to face,
I'll find some happy in my happy place

Abed's Happy Community College Show is filmed before a live audience inside of my head.

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

Liked it more than rush but definitely noticed his concerns and echo the lack of love for Troy/Britta and the Abed plot (though I liked just enough of the bits in the fantasy to appreciate it: Jeff and Pierce fighting in the Freshers Mixer, the Dean playing Di Caprio from The Aviator). Jeff scenes and interaction with the Dean was stellar. Loved the bit about him smelling like the floor of a movie theatre and his 'not for the usual reasons' response. Entire dance scene with Jeff and Dean Pelton was exceptional with Pelton being amazing. Loved him going for a hug and just accepting Jeff's refusal immediately after. Chang stuff felt a bit cheap and an instance of Chang having a bizarre scene for the sake of that being a staple of the character.

Leonard talking about pissing in a cup to keep his seat and being punched by Jeff were the highlights of the episode for me. Disappointed we didn't get a screenshot of Garrett's twitter feed, hopefully in future episodes. Stapler gag having a payoff at the end of Dean Pelton's talk with Jeff was a nice touch.

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

I decided to check this show out since so many people here love it , it was funny but not hilarious. Stuff in Abed's head was mostly unfunny except for "Look how far apart your fingers are, that's your penis" I enjoyed the hunger games stuff though, like when they had to climb up the teepee and jeff stole the girls glasses then hit the old guy.

Echoes my thoughts on it pretty much. I tend not to enjoy Abed heavy episodes as much. Small doses of Abed are neat but large doses turn me off the show. Britta's top needs to stay that low. Dean was great again but I worry that he's gonna get overexposed this season and become over forced like Chang gets at times. Leonard cameos and Jeff were the highlight of the episode. Solid. Kinda expected just solid first episode back though. Still better than the majority of other comedies on right now though.

Parks 1-0 Community.

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

Episode was disappointing, despite setting sub-standard expectations. In previous show premieres, the 'feeling' of it was always the same as the rest of the season. This time, it just felt, awkward and unnatural.

Not sure the best words, everyone but Jeff felt like they came across as a caricature of what they once were. Oh well, theres 13 episodes or so. Got to give it time.

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

I rewatched the premiere and liked it better this time around. picked up on some jokes I missed the first time cause I was enamored with hype. it wasnt an all-time great episode by any means but it was funny throughout and the show feels the same as it did under harmon so all is well as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Community Season 4 Discussion Thread

There were a few things that didn't seem right about the show for me. The stuff in Abed's head seemed kind of forced in an effort to re-create the craziness of some of the stuff from last season, and it wasn't very funny at all. Also the Troy/Britta stuff seemed kind of lazy and random, but it's hard to tell based off of the first episode so it could pick up steam.

Having said that, I really liked it overall. Firstly, I could never not love these characters. Secondly, some of the jokes were just as good as anything they've ever done on the show. The dance scene was brilliant, everything with Jeff was gold, Leonard was funny, Jeff punching Leonard was absolutely glorious, Dean moving in next to Jeff was hilarious. Also laughed at Chang. I love the idea that he gets into these ridiculous situations and you're left wondering what happened to him. So yeah, Community's back and it already seems on the right track, keeping the silliness of the later half of last season in tact. Good stuff.

Just hoping they stay away from doing tons of Abed themed episodes personally. Love Abed, but I find I enjoy the episodes the most when they center around Jeff with Troy and Abed doing their thing in secondary storylines. Hoping they don't ruin the Dean by having him involved too much as well.
