I've been feeling that's something's off since the return. I don't know whether that's just me looking for it because of Harmon's exit, or a slow start to the season. It seems like they're sliding into more conventional sitcom tropes. The writing isn't as sharp and the arcs aren't as polished.
Again, I could just be looking for it. Probably won't know until the season is over. But I don't think any of the three episodes have been particularly strong, as disappointing as that is to admit.
I'm still enjoying the show, although more for the characters, one-liners and call-backs at the moment.
Thought this episode was the better of the new bunch thus far. Although I don't enjoy Matt Lucas, he worked.
I do believe that the new feel, the 'reality' of Community, is to give the show its closure. Its rounding up the stories. Make the next couple of episodes in the school, play out Chang's inevitable final scenes, the relationships, Abed's life after sorted, and give it the kiss of death.
This show isn't that good anymore. If you guys are ok with a mediocre sitcom cool, but the magic is GONE.

I'm still enjoying it but the show has lost its soul. It doesn't have its own voice anymore and you can see they are making it more in line with what the network wants which is everything Harmon fought against. It should have ended at Season 3 with the departure of Harmon.
Harmon leaving hasn't changed anything about the show at all.

Yeah I really don't think the show is fundamentally different. It's important to note that we haven't really had an episode with a typical Community setting yet. The first episode was the Hunger Games so there was chaos in the school, the second was in Pierce's mansion, the third at a convention. Like Abed said, "I remember when this show was about a Community College".

Meh. It's just not at the heights that it used to be this season. It's not bad, it's just decent. Nothing really feels fresh and exciting about the show right now either. The Pierce gags have run their course, Abed is way too over exposed right now, Troy and Britta just feels off and forced. That said though Britta and Annie were looking damn fine last episode. I enjoyed Matt Lucas' random cameo too and the "your best friend David" line.
I enjoyed the episode. I'm getting really worried that they won't be in the actual college much anymore though. Jeff/Annie was great I thought, Troy/Britta still feels off, and I enjoyed Troy/Abed despite their story arc being done before in the last season. It could be seen as continuation but it could also be seen as kind of lazy. I'm going to wait to see more of the season before I come to that conclusion though.
