Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

I'm enjoying where this is going so far, not sure how I feel about the Caesar guy(why doesn't he have black hair?), but I like Crassus. Seems to be a fun villain to watch, but he has some massive shoes to fill with Glabur being dead. I just hope with the scope getting as large as it is, that they don't lose sight of the individuals.

I have been wondering tho, with all the Romans they seem to be constantly slaughtering, how are they always short on weapons and/or armor? You'd think they would have more captured swords than they know what to do with!

Cool, didn't know this had started again. I'll be watching. Vengeance was a hell of a season.

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Well Crassus & Julius Caesar are the actual historical villains so they really don't have to fill shoes.

Wish Gracchus was involved in this somehow.

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Naevia was absolutely sick in this episode! Seeing her wail away on that smithy guy was something else. Amazing how she's developed since the start.

Crixus delivering that drop kick was a bit silly, but looked awesome, so therefore it's just fine!

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Final duel should be between Spartacus, Crixus & Gannicus vs. Crassus, Caesar, & Tiberius.

In a way, yeah. But also, our heroes have been built up to be such gods with swords that to see them fall in single combat would be....weird. Dunno how it happened IRL tho.

More of a slaughter in IRL.

Personally I would love the final duel to be between Spartacus & Crassus with Gannicus & Crixus losing their duels. As Spartacus's army is pretty much dead, Spartacus is the last one standing but he choses to fight Crassus to the death. In a long battle, Crassus defeats him, and disarms him, leaving him with no weapon as Crassus points his sword towards the neck of Spartacus, as the Roman soldiers circle, Spartacus, who acknowledges his defeat. Have it be in the rain also.

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

I'm loving the guy playing Caesar. The way he snuck into the camp (sort of), stayed there, ingratiated himself, and stirred a little dissent so easily was fantastic. Especially since you know those guys are just bursting to kill people. It's so much harder to sit and rule than run around conquering.

The decimation was chilling. Especially since Crassus included his son. That fucker is COLD.

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Wasn't too fond of how Caesar didn't look super impressive in combat. It will be very hard to believe later this season if he can beat any of Spartacus/Gannicus/Crixus in single combat.

Although I am wondering how nobody noticed a Roman army with a giant fucking battering ram snuck up on their town?

Re: Spartacus Season 3 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

I like that they are anchoring the development of the show to the real events of the slave rebellion. Probably 90% of what we see is fictional but the big events/places and characters are true to the original Spartacus account.

I know his story quite well and was expecting the split between Spartacus and Crixus and can't wait to see how they play it out, but having Caesar infiltrate to instigate it was a nice deviation.

The decimation is a famous real thing that Crassus did as well, so I'm glad they concentrated on it so much. He can't physically compete with Spartacus, Gatticus or Crixus but he doesn't need to because he will have planned everything out in advance. He's the Roman Batman to Spartacus' Superman. Where Spartacus has the beating of him one on one, Crassus has the beating of Spartacus in military tactics and general smarts.

He's a great villain and they've written him fucking brilliantly so far.
