Re: Star Wars Universe

I dont think ive ever watched any of the originals. Maybe im just young but only things I like about Star Wars was Obi in the prequels,Darth Maul and Galen Marek aka Starkiller from the Force Unleashed games.

Maybe I'll watch the originals before Disney starts making these new ones.

its what makes star wars so interesting. Lucas invented an INCREDIBLE modern epic of sci-fi, western and samurai genres. The force, the aliens, the planets, its genuinely an incredible world

And then populated it with some pretty terrible characters and mediocre stories. Asides from flashes of brilliance, like Solo, Vader, Kenobi and Yoda

Star wars has so much to it. Its why I like KOTOR. It expands the nature of their universe by making it more epic and filling with true warfare and sci fi concepts. Meanwhile all episode 1 to 3 did was make everything smaller and more retarded
I actually enjoyed the prequel trilogy, Obi-Wan vs. Anakin still remains arguably the greatest lightsaber duel in both trilogies. Wish they didn't kill off Maul & Dooku so easily. In the end it should've been Yoda-Palpatine, Dooku-Obi Wan, Anakin-Maul.

I am talking storyline, here.
The Lawless was one of the best pieces of Star Wars media ever. With TCW, for me there's a lot of bad stuff but there's a lot of real gems in there. For example Anakin Skywalker is pure gold and comes off as the guy who Obi-Wan was talking about in ANH instead of a whiny ungrateful prick.

With the EU it's the same but on a bigger scale, but there's a lot more bad than good. For every Knights of the Old Republic there's ten Darkersaber's. For every Mara Jade there's a Natasi Daala.

Well, there you have the point

It looks cool as fuck, but the characters are seriously lacking

The saber duels in the Prequels look more like Beyonce videos than sword fights.

Daala was okay, Got sick of her after a while. Abeloth was a dope villain though, But one of the things that really surprised me was how they tied in the Ones from Clone Wars into the EU

Re: Star Wars Universe

I'd put anything Timothy Zahn writes up there with the original trilogy. He's got a really great handle on how to write the classic characters (Han, Leia, Luke etc) and created the two best EU characters Mara Jade & MOTHERFUCKING THRAWN who is a BOSS.

Stackpole & Allston are pretty good too. I enjoyed the bits of X-Wing stuff i've read too.

Drew Karpysyhn (that fucking name i'm sure I mispelt it) is pretty good too (he wrote KOTOR & Mass Effect for Bioware for that matter) and I really thought the Darth Bane stuff was interesting other than he wrote the Sith/Jedi as almost being all-powerful and that didn't really sit well with me IMO.

Daala was crap. She was just a shit attempt at creating another Thrawn and failed. This woman had no right to be a Admiral or having command of anything.

They tried to make her Palpatine also without the Sith ties.

Re: Star Wars Universe

Which didn't end well. To put it lightly.

Just once, I'd like to read a Star Wars book where there's a Chief of State for the good guys post-RPTJ who isn't a power hungry, megalomaniacal, borderline (or not) insane and corrupt. Or who isn't named Leia Organa Solo. I mean we had Cal Omas for like 5/6 years worth of books, but since then we've had: a power hungry Mon Cal, a Dark Lord of the Sith and Daala (there's more, but I don't want to spoil FOTJ too much).
