Re: Star Wars Universe
Anything Zahn writes is at least "good" in my experience.

As long as you don't mind Mara Jade barging into every possible scenario and meeting every character possible, sure. The Thrawn Trilogy, Hand of Thrawn and Outbound Flight are next level greatness but he really tapered off imo.

Re: Star Wars Universe
To be fair, the publishers may have wanted him to use Mara Jade non-stop since she gained a huge amount of popularity. She's gotta be the most popular character never to be in a movie.
I don't think I've read any of his stuff outside his Thrawn novels. I would, just haven't.

This is true but I think MrMr probably has a point.

Re: Star Wars Universe
Yeah to be far it's not that the books are bad. They aren't. At all. They're just not as great as the earlier work. It's just weird character shit throughout Allegiance/Choices of One. Haven't bothered with Scoundrels.
Plus Zahn can do what he wants. We wouldn't have an EU as we know it if HTTE hadn't been so good.

Re: Star Wars Universe
Yeah I didn't like how Luke & Mara technically met in COO, kinda killed some of the shit for the Thrawn Trilogy.
But I marked the fuck out for Thrawn owning shit at the end of COO. BAD ASS MOTHERFUCKER.

Re: Star Wars Universe
Man I hope TTT gets adapted at some point. That or KOTOR I getting the nod would make me mark so hard. Like 'Mick Foley winning the WWE title' levels of pure joy.

Re: Star Wars Universe
If only they could have adapted the Thrawn stuff back in the 90's. I'm not really happy with the idea of Luke & Co. reportedly being in episode VII etc.

Re: Star Wars Universe
I am. I mean I never once took Lucas' word that there'd never be more Star Wars movies, but I thought it'd be in another few decades; long after the Flannelled One no longer exists. Right now I've got nothing to be pessimistic about. We've got the story idea from Lucas, Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan writing the script, a massive Star Wars fan is the director and now we get cameos from the Big Three? 2015 can't come soon enough.
As for the EU, the whole continuity side of it has never been the draw for me. I don't like the Thrawn Trilogy because it's Star Wars, I like it because it's an awesome story. Contradicting the post-ROTJ EU isn't gonna stop me from reading the books on my shelves.
