I Like The Way You Die Boy - Django Unchained Movie Discussion

So i thought it would be good to start a discussion on Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained. I saw it tonight and thought it was fantastic. I'm not a massive Tarantino fan, in fact the only other film i've seen is Pulp Fiction. But Django Unchained has convinced me that tomorrow i will finally sit down and watch Reservoir Dogs. Great film and i predict it will be one of the top films of 2013.

I've seen most of his movies, I'd say this was his second best after the Kill Bills, couldn't stand Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Bastards was meh.

Love Django Unchained, seen it 4 times already. The music was really good too, like in all his films. A great mixture of action, dark comedy, Western cliches and a killer soundtrack.

Loved it. Could become my personal "movie of the year". Most Tarantino movies don't feel top notch. But this movies (simple) story, dialogues and main characters were f'ing amazing.

Amazing job, Quentin! Same goes to Foxx, DiCaprio, Waltz and Jackson (to mention the major characters), who played their roles to perfection (even though Djangos role was less flashy).

This thread is almost a month past due. Shame no one made a thread yet.

Django was awesome. My favorite Tarantino film since IB >_>

Everything from the Mandingo fighting scene on was a joygasm. DAT DINNER SCENE.

Did you know that he wasn't supposed to cut his hand open? That was a freak accident during that scene. Kudos to Leo for continuing it....and Kerry Washington for not breaking character and freaking out when he actually fucking wipes the blood on her face. Rewatching that scene is a giant "holy fuck".

I was about to ask that, it seemed like it wasn't supposed to happen. I was curious if it was real or not. I doubt he really wiped his blood on her face. They cut away at least once and probably edited it in with him with fake blood in the next shot. I can't imagine him wiping real blood on her like that.

They do cut away, but after he initially smears it on her.

I'd order the top 5 tarantinos as
1. Resevoir Dogs
2. Inglorious Bastards
3. Django
4. Pulp Fiction

*HUGE GAP*

5. Jackie Brown

Saw it yesterday and have mixed feelings about the film.

I love the screen titles and the way in wich pay homage to the old spaghetti westerns, in this department i was surprised by how the film seems more a Corbucci film to a thing made by Leone.

But talking specifically about the movie, Tarantino seems to evolve again and to take a new aproach in the way he wants to film, the use of the music for example was amazing and not just a mix of good songs like in all his other films. In fact, he erased some of the most memorable things in his two last films, the extendend conversations and the use of the panoramic shoot between them, this was a dissapointment because the movie is too fragmented for moments wich is proved by the cuts of bassically any tension using humor. Also the excess of the slow motion is painful for moments, seem like a excuse to by on "style filming" more than a justified thing.

I loved the take that the movie make on slavery but is clearly that Tarantino was just having fun and not trying to surpass himself like in his two past flicks, wich seems better.

Is a great movie but not something i will fall in love with

For me, personally:

1. Kill Bill, Vol. 1
2. Kill Bill, Vol. 2
3. Inglorious Basterds
4. Django Unchained
5. Pulp Fiction
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Jackie Brown
8. Grindhouse

For the record, Grindhouse sucked ass and it's the worse of his films by far. The ending was okay though.
