The Hobbit Discussion Thread
Couldn't see one anywhere else and think it'll be worthy of it's own discussion thread.
Been seeing very mixed reviews but still excited as fuck for this.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
I think it's gonna suck. there, I said it.
On the other hand, I'm stoked because it should be enjoyable enough; it has a hard act following the first 3.

Never read the book, I should eventually though. Who the fuck cares about reviews nowadays. Movie is gonna be epic and millions upon millions will see it. If I dont buy my tickets now im sure it'll be sold out.

Can't wait for it, but I'm fucked as I live in France and the nearest cinema that shows original language films is two hours train ride away. I really fucking hope somebody gets a half decent version online.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
My sister summed it up perfectly.
She brought this up to me, so I'll use it here. Remember that line that Bilbo has in Fellowship?
"I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread"
That is exactly how I feel about this new trilogy. In LOTR, they cut out a lot of stuff, and each film was still over three hours, but that was because they had a lot of material to work with, and it was much easier to pull off without losing sight of the story.
The Hobbit, in of itself, is shorter than one of the three books in LOTR. So their plan is to stretch it out for three three hour movies? How the hell are they going to stretch that out for that long? What kind of stuff are they going to make up to pad the holy hell out of this? That is really my only intrigue in seeing this. I am curious to see what the hell they use to pad this shit.
But I am certainly not going to see this in theaters. I put my time into Middle Earth already. I'm done. Maybe I'll check it out when it is on video or something. But goddamn, one relatively short book (my copy is only 260 pages or so) stretched out to three 3 hour movies? That is just absurd.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
It's not that hard, the 3rd movie will be entirely the battle of 5 armies probably. Smaug is done with in the 2nd movie.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
Meh, not that excited for it personally. Should be a good adventure/fantasy movie, but not expecting it to be anywhere near as good as the LOTR trilogy.

Yeah, there's a lot that can be expanded upon like escaping for the Misty Mountains, which looks very much so embellished upon in the trailer, and Mirkwood scenes. They can get 3 hours out of work around Smaug easy movie 2, and if it's only 2.5, that's fine too.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
I'm down for it. Was wanting them to pump this out the moment I read the book all those years ago.
