They gotta deal with the Necromancer that they introduced. Which is actually Sauron...spoilers! And the mystery of the Morgul Blade. There's a lot of side stuff, including resolving that albino orc arc and whatever else Gandalf goes to do when he's not in the book.

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
I also saw the Hobbit last night, and I must say I only watch long films like these including Star Wars because I am loyal to the products produced in the Movies. As for the Movie itself was awesome, I would of liked a better history of the Dwarfs? Which Dwarfs is Gemini ancestor? Also now remember I seen the movies and read the books except the Hobbit, these same Dwarfs are the same we see skeletons in the Cave in the Fellowship? I love the scene with Frodo and Bilbo just before the story starts, as it's a great day for him, as the fans know later his life would change in the future.Bilbo played by Freeman was prefectly done as you saw the same fear from adventure like Frido, but it was great to see both characters take the risk, knowing this journey would save the world.Funny scene I loved, some people hated it was Biblo and Gollum game or riddles.Crazy to see him get upset like a Child playing a game with someone he didn't know.I wonder why Biblo didn't kill him when he put the Ring on, and had his sword to his throat? He felt sorry for him, maybe thinking he has no friends etc?
I thought at times I feared where's the action, and I kept forgetting that the Dwarfs are crafty fighters, coming to attack when you least expect it.Also I loved the ending, where you see all the Dwarfs with Bilbo, and he says "I think the worse is behind us".I never read the Book but I damn sure know the journey gets worse, and I imagine not all the Dwarfs survive in the end.Overall it was 9.5 outta 10 for me, bring on the second film next Christmas please!

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
Whoa whoa whoa, who hated the riddles scene? That was amazing.
I think he didn't kill him because Gandalf told him something about it's more important to know when not to kill, than to kill. (can't remember, exactly)

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
Just got back from this(FINALLY), and holy shit.
Peter Jackson is a fucking genius.
I had my doubts, what with the critics stupid ass opinions, but I can now safely say that the magic is still here. This is without a doubt still cinematic excellence, and it's obvious the critics were expecting a carbon copy of LOTR. The feels are still here, the ending made me cry inside.
My most exciting scene award goes to when the Dwarves don't go back on their word and all attack the three orcs when Bilbo is in danger.
Only problems I have are with several dwarves getting literally no character development, and the fact that you have to suspend your disbelief a little to believe that they could get out of some of the situations they were in completely intact.
9.5/10 (still not better than any of the LOTR films, of course)

Re: The Hobbit Discussion Thread
the entertainment section: the place where you go only if you've seen everything to do with the subject at hand otherwise you'll be spoiled to shit due to everyone constantly posting spoilers without warning.
anyways, I really enjoyed the movie and found it highly entertaining. the golem fight wasn't that great, but I loved nearly all the other battle scenes.
