Larry Hagman, who played the evil oilman J.R. Ewing on the hit primetime soap Dallas, has died, sources close to the actor told The Dallas Morning News. He was 81.
Hagman, who before Dallas starred with Barbara Eden on another TV hit, I Dream of Jeannie, died Friday afternoon in a Dallas hospital.
In October 2011, the actor said he had a "treatable" form of cancer and that he would work on TNT's Dallas reboot during treatment.
"As J.R. I could get away with anything — bribery, blackmail and adultery. But I got caught by cancer," he said then. "I do want everyone to know that it is a very common and treatable form of cancer. I will be receiving treatment while working on the new Dallas series. I could not think of a better place to be than working on a show I love, with people I love. Besides, as we all know, you can't keep J.R. down!"
Well I don't remember ever watching Dallas, I used to watch I Dream of Jeanie via syndication.
Thoughts and prayers with his family.

I don't think we need a thread for every dead celebrity.
Sorry my bad, I just figured if a thread could be made for Spider-Man's "death" then a thread about an actual person dieing would be Ok.

I always wonder about older stars in tv shows, like Hagman and Maw-Maw from Raising Hope. What would happen if they died mid-way through a season? Was he still in Dallas??
RIP. in the UK, I dream of Jeannie used to be on of a morning at 9ish, reminds meof being home sick from school and watching with my Mum. God memories, it's sad that he's passed,

It happened once somewhat recently with John Ritter, if you remember. Also in a few movies with Bruce and Brandon Lee. Show went on.
Anyway RIP to him. Never watched it but my aunt and grandma use to talk about it (dallas) all the time when I was a kid.
