Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Doll (1987)

A family of three and a driver with his two hitchhikers stop by a mansion during a storm. The elderly couple who own the mansion take them in and lets them stay the night. The couple are magical toy makers who possess a disturbing amount of dolls who are actually cursed souls of immoral people. The dolls however do not hurt those pure at heart or young at heart. Fucking creepy movie with an excellent gothic atmosphere and pretty fucked up killings. 9/10

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I just watched 'Tsotsi', a south african film about a criminal who steals a car only to find a baby in the back seat. It's really good, very powerful stuff. It actually won the Oscar in 2005 for best foreign language film. Highly recommended.

Finished it this morning. Really liked it. I don't know why it gets trashed (possibly the bullshit PG-13 hate), but I got a gothic flavoured occult horror flick and I'm fucking proud I saw it. Mind blowing twist at the end. 8/10

The Master. 10/10 PTA is a genius director it's amazing he's the same guy who made boogie nights, magnolia, and there will be blood all very different movies with different looks.
Joaquin Phoenix is complete pimp in this movie. Probably one the best performances in the last 5 years I've seen in hollywood

Red Dawn: 3/10 man did this suck. It just felt so incomplete. Chris hemsworth and Jeffrey dean Morgan were the best parts of this movie. Josh Lucas sucks

Will be finally seeing this in the next week or so. Really looking forward to it.

Last night I finally watched 'Seeking a Friend For The End of the World' after quite a few friends had recommended it to me. It was good. Nothing spectacular but Keira Knightley was excellent even though her role was way out of her comfort zone. She played the 'manic-pixie-dream girl' really well. Steve Carell was solid, but I kept getting distracted by the size of his nose.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Here we go...

Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet
A group of teenagers celebrate the anniversary of the death of a local axe murderer. They suddenly find themselves in the ghost's crosshairs. After a really cool opening where the title character kills her parents and later the people at the mental hospital, the shenanigans of the "teenagers" took way too fucking much time. It picks up when they watch what they think is Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (actually a porno), but the damage of how idiotic the characters were (bar Danielle Harris). The gore makes up for the bullshit.
Spoiler for :
Danielle Harris is 4'11, a very tiny woman. It boggles the mind that six people can't bum rush her or give her a "300"kick.
6/10

Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Two good natured hillbillies visit their vacation cabin and are attacked by a group of rowdy college students who mistake them for psycho rednecks. Fucking hilarious film and all around awesomeness. 10/10

The Last Exorcism
What an excellent film and holy shit at that ending! 9/10

The Devil Inside
Not terrible but it's so fucking sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow and boring. Outside of the lead actress and the exorcism/horror scenes, it's 83 minutes of mostly bland dialogue and nice scenic shots. 4/10

It's just a fantastic movie. Phoenix and PTA are doing another movie together I believe

Wonderland (2003)

Very underrated film that chronicles the Wonderland murders in 1981, along with the infamous association with porn actor John C. Holmes, who is played by Val Kilmer. And actually does a wonderful job in the role.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Lawnmower Man (1992)

90's sci-fi.

The basic plot is that Pierce Brosnan's character creates a way to make this mentally handicapped person much smarted via a sort of computer program. It starts off well but veers off drastically in the second half. Brosnan is good but he doesn't have much to work with. The script is pretty basic and the acting is pretty average. The special effects are pretty good for 1992 and it's fun watching the film predict technology in the future (though they ended up being way off haha.) Overall it could have been a lot better though.
