Re: Ranking the Bond Films

If you need any education on how bad "A View to a Kill" is, Roger Moore himself said it was the worse one he was a part of.

Goldeneye ain't in my top 5.

Yeah, I said it. Didn't enjoy the Brosnan films at all.

And QOS is underrated. It was more boring than others but it wasn't bad.

Re: Ranking the Bond Films

I'll comment on QoS when I give it a 3rd go tomorrow. Although after the last watch I did swear never to watch it again. Will my opinion finally change? Tune in tomorrow.

Re: Ranking the Bond Films

QoS' problem is it doesn't feel much like a Bond flick and its a direct sequel to one of the universally thought of better bond movies and doesn't live up to its predecessor.

Re: Ranking the Bond Films

Old thread, I apologise.

I've watched the first four, and Goldeneye, recently after deciding to get into Bond. Never seen one of the movies before. Started with Goldeneye. Just as a feeler. Played the N64 game. But, would prefer to start with the most recent one I've seen.

Thunderball has to be one of those movies that I can't put my finger on. Extremely fun, but also very bland, and can get lost in the plot. The final 30-40 minutes was crazy. Weird, riveting and fun. The rest of its film, there were parts I could get into, then parts I was just trying to think of something else to do. Probably needs time to settle in, definately one of the weirder things I've come across. Has left me puzzled for the last half hour.

Goldfinger, loved it.
From Russia with Love, probably needs time to digest it. I understand its a movie that has to be done in 2 hours, but the motives and storytelling in films like these, need to be explored deeper. I enjoyed it, but would of prefered it to go deeper into the mind of some of the characters. Felt like I lacked a connection, that I was just simply watching it unfold. Action scenes were terrific, though.
Dr No is one that probably needs another viewing. Definately enjoyed it, but again, hard to make something out of it.

In the end, 18 films to go. Judging by lists, (having avoided spoilers), the quality seemingly drops off a bit. With the first 4 of the series in most top 10-12s. But I'll keep on trucking.
