Default Re: Ranking the Bond Films

Can't rank best to worst altogether so I'll do it by actor:

Connery:
Quote:
From Russia With Love - Sean Connery at his best.

Goldfinger - The movie that started the 007 movie formula.

Dr. No - Good movie, but overshadowed by its two sequels.

Thunderball - Epic for its time, but its drags on now.

Never Say Never Again - its not an official EON film since its an inferior remake of Thunderball, but Connery's performance makes up for DAF.)

You Only Live Twice - Suffers from the ante it up syndrome, but it does feature the best version of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Fun fact: Sean Connery has a fight scene with The Rock's grandfather, Peter Maivia!

Diamonds Are Forever - Sean Connery doesn't give a shit and it shows. This film started the campfest era that Roger Moore carried on with.
Moore:
Quote:
For Your Eyes Only - He plays a serious Bond for almost the whole movie and I loved it. Damn shame he didn't stay that way.

The Man With The Golden Gun - A movie plagued with flaws (return of the idiot sheriff, dumbshit Bond girl, and the lame Solex Agitator subplot), but Christopher Lee once again steals the show as Bond's equal!

The Spy Who Loved Me - Moore's most overrated film as its just carbon copy of You Only Live Twice. Just swap space for sea.

Live And Let Die - Its just a Shaft movie starring James Bond. I did like the boat chase though.

Octopussy - Too damn campy for my taste and James Bond dresses up as a clown. UGH!

A View To A Kill - Terrible film starring a 58 year old Roger Moore, but Christopher Walken does play the villain.

Moonraker - James Bond in space. Enough said.
Dalton:
Quote:
License To Kill - Tailor made for Dalton as Bond is out for revenge!

The Living Daylights - Fu**ing boring ass movie!
Brosnan:
Quote:
The World Is Not Enough - Pierce's pinnacle performance as 007. My only gripe with the film was the miscasting of Denise Richards. Her playing a nuclear physicist was pure LOL.

Goldeneye - Fantastic film, but Alec Trevelyan is so overrated as a Bond villain! While I love Sean Bean to death, his character's motives were convoluted and there just simply isn't enough screentime (zero flashbacks) to make his past friendship with Bond believable.

Tomorrow Never Dies - Decent. Elliot Carver is a weak main villain.

Die Another Day - The first half is actually pretty good, but once Bond gets to Iceland, it goes downhill from there by turning into a science fiction movie. I can handle all its flaw: Madonna's terrible cameo and theme song, Halle Berry, the invisible car, a weapons satellite being used AGAIN, the bad CGI, but the last straw for me was gene therapy as the twist with Moon being Graves was so fu**ing stupid!
Craig:
Quote:
Skyfall - Casino Royale is actually the better film overall, but this gets top spot as Silva surpasses Le Chiffre as main villain. And I love Mads Mikkelsen.

Casino Royale - The first hour wasn't needed, but once Bond gets Montenegro, its pretty faithful to the book. I was impressed by the story getting modernized.

Quantum Of Solace - Subpar.
Quote:
Some advice lads, all 22 Bond movies are on sale for 99 bucks on Amazon right now on blu ray
It's TODAY (11/24/2012) only! Better get on it because you won't find a better deal like this anytime soon.

I haven't seen all of the Bond flicks, mostly skip the Moore ones because I don't particularily like his take on Bond and prefer the more serious Bond stuff. anyways just watched The Living Daylights and for the most part really enjoyed it. Dalton's take on Bond was probably the closest to Craig's and I really like Craig's portrayal so thought he was pretty good, even if he wasn't as witty or charming as Connery, Moore, Craig or Brosnan. Anyways i'd rank them like this. I haven't seen Live & Let Die in so long i'm not going to count it right now.

From Russia With Love
Casino Royale
Skyfall
Goldfinger
Goldeneye
Dr. No
The Living Daylights
Thunderball
The World is Not Enough
Quantum of Solace
Tomorrow Never Dies
Diamonds are Forever
The Man With The Golden Gun
A View To A Kill
Die Another Day

I don't loathe the flick or anything, but all to note from it is Christopher Walken & a theme song that trumps the movie.
