Best Stand Up Specials
So I LOVE good standup specials. Huge fan of Carlin, my favorite comedian EVER, but I've seen so many random clips of his specials on Youtube I've kind of ruined a lot of specials as a whole for myself. Also enjoy some Gabriel Iglesias and obviously Kevin Hart. Seen ALL of their stuff.
I just love to laugh and would be interested in finding new comics to watch. Any suggestions? |
Re: Best Stand Up Specials
Interested in UK Stand-ups? Because over here we have had an influx of great comedians in the last decade or so.

Re: Best Stand Up Specials
yeah, what style of comedy are you most into? Not many Americans like British humour, not many Brits are fully into American humour etc. Being Australian i enjoy a lot of UK comics, and a few Americans far more than most Australian comedians.
Jimmy Carr is my absolute favourite though, Frankie Boyle is up there though. Which kind of says a lot about my sense of humour :hmm: |
Re: Best Stand Up Specials
Start with Lewis Black, Patton Oswalt and Louis CK. Don't bother with the watered down, 30 minute Comedy Central stuff though, go right to the albums/HBO specials.
It's pretty much all good but to narrow down some select things Lewis Black: Rules Of Enragement, The Carnagie Hall Performance, Anticipation, Black On Broadway, Red White And Screwed, The White Album (that's more than enough but I can't help it, he's so amazing) Patton Oswalt: My Weakness Is Strong, Werewolves And Lollipops, Finest Hour Louis CK: Shameless, Chewed Up, Hilarious Invest in these shows and I guarantee you won't regret it. If Carlin is your all time favourite (mine too) all this shit is up your alley, you'll be laughing for weeks. If I was to recommend only one from all 3, it would be Rules of Enragement, My Weakness Is Strong, and either Shameless or Chewed Up, I'm not really sure which of Louis's I'd recommend more. But those are the best one from each. |

Re: Best Stand Up Specials
Good tips so far, do albums count too?
You can never wrong with some Mitch Hedberg (RIP), this one is good ![]() |
Re: Best Stand Up Specials

Re: Best Stand Up Specials
Some quality ones have already been mentioned but one I recently watched or re-watched is Paul Mooney "Godfather of Comedy" special. That shit was funny imo. He talks about race (a lot of his material is based on it actually and some people don't like that), Pres. Obama, Tiger Woods, Miss America, etc.
For classics Richard Pryor "Live on the Sunset Strip" and Eddie Murphy "Raw." |
Re: Best Stand Up Specials
Chapelle Killin them softly is my favorite.
