Official Boardwalk Empire Thread

Does anybody else on here watch Boardwalk Empire? I really hope so because its probably the best show on TV right now with Breaking Bad being gone. Steve Buscemi is such a talented actor and I'm glad he is finally being recognized for it and not just the guy who went into the wood chipper in Fargo.

Besides Nucky though my favorite character has got to be Michael Shannon as Agent Nelson Van Alden he is just so entertaining and all of his little mannerisms are just so fascinating. Its like watching this ticking time bomb that could really go off at any time, I mean damn he drowned a guy in front of a bunch of people. I hope there are more episodes that focus on him.

I knocked Lawler out last week and I'm gunna knock him out again!

Re: Official Boardwalk Empire Thread

Good show. Season 1 was a little slow and at times boring, but I gave season 2 a chance and glad I have coz I'm enjoying it alot.

Still wouldn't put it ahead of Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy or Game of Thrones for current shows, but it's damn good.

I really need to catch up on it. Can't find a way to watch all the episodes though. The XFINITY app only has parts of season 2.

Re: Official Boardwalk Empire Thread

I thought Season 1 was really good. But with Season 2, I felt like it was too slow, great character development, but just too slow. Then we had the Season 2 finale which I seen coming but was still shocked with what happened and it made me weary going into Season 3. But so far Season 3 has been great, Richard is by far my favorite character and I'm glad that Owen Slater is growing on me each episode because I hated him during Season 2. Also, I'd like to see them focus more on Luciano and Lansky which is seems like they are doing. Also interested in the Capone/O'Banion storyline, it's based on their real-life feud which really heated up in the mid-late '20s causing lots of mayhem and that's all I'll say, don't want to spoil anything. I'm also curious to see if Van Alden will take O'Banion up on his offer since it seems with each episode that Van Alden isn't really suited nor does he like being a regular working stiff. Van Alden's character development has been great and it has done a total 180 since we first seen him as a straight-laced Prohibition agent in Season 1.

Re: Official Boardwalk Empire Thread

i thought season 1 was way slower than 2. either way i thought the show was great, but the second time i watched it i thought it was really good. i'd rank it 2nd to breaking bad of current tv shows.

Eli talking to Mickey:

"How the fuck are you still alive?"

That is one of the greatest lines that I've ever heard on a television show not named Breaking Bad. I laughed my ass off when Eli asked Mickey that question and after I thought about all the shit that happened in Seasons 1 & 2 and how Mickey miraculously has survived.

Great show with some fantastic characters. Richard Darrow is probably my favorite character on the show right now but I love almost all the characters. I'd rate it just below Breaking Bad and Mad Men right now.

Re: Official Boardwalk Empire Thread

Just watched the pilot the other day, and I liked it. Buscemi = WINNING! The moment I saw Terrence Winter (The Sopranos) credited as the head writer and producer, I knew there will be blood, violence, sex and humor. Looking forwards to the journey.
