so i guess i gotta be the one to poo poo on the batman parade

the story is moving entirely too slow. it took two issues just to get to the setup of what the actual story is going to be. im dreading to see what kind of dumb twist theres going to be at the end of the story (and there is going to be a twist, its scott synders only story telling device)and batmans rationale for not telling the rest of the bat family what happened to alfred was dumb. so was leaving gordon in that hospital

but most of all.....THAT was the twist?



issue was such a letdown and it honestly has me afraid of what might come next

Yeah i prefer Morrison's interpretation that Joker knew who Batman was and just didnt give a fuck. He alluded to it at several points in his run

First was in his Arkham Asylum story, where Joker delivers a brilliant line. When someone (maybe black mask) asks to see Bat's face, Joker answers "dont be so predictable, that is his real face". I think it showed how much those two understand each other on a basic level

Another one was the battle in RIP as WCW said where he fights Bruce unmasked, and doesnt even comment. He just tries stabbing him. And even he even goes into detail later about how he understands Batman and how fucked the Black Glove are

And then finally theres Batman and Robin, where Dick and Joker basically act like some sick family. Almost like Joker is Dick's creepy uncle

Its one of the few things that bothered me about Batman 14. Ive read far, far better Joker stories, but I'd definitely like to see where this is going. It feels like a 'Joker's greatest hits thing', but somehow more self aware. Hes no Morrison, but I have faith in Snyder. Still feel this is below his Detective run though

Capullo's art is still untouchable though. for me, the top two artists in DC comics are working in the same comic book. Someone needs to give jock a full decent run.

So Spider-man Grim Hunt was one long what the fuck, but there is one part that genuinely fucked with my head

In the imagined future where spidey kills Kraven, hes kicked out of the avengers by Iron man, Captain America and especially wolverine

Am i the only only person who thinks that didnt make a lick of sense?

The only guy the entire comic showing any rationality or common sense was Chameleon

I'm probably somewhere between Seph gushing and WCW cynicism. I'm not sure I can get past Joker's face though. I guess I can get the symbolic gesture, but couldn't he have done an actual symbolic gesture and not...ok.

I mean he's in a mechanic's getup right? That's a symbolic gesture. I seriously hate this face thing.

Stuff that was awesome. Greg Capullo. I actually liked the wasted page of him walking through his house. Good tension.

Also, I didn't get the same impression that Joker cares about Batman's identity, nor anyone else's. Seems he's just using this to fuck with their heads.
