Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

But Suicide Squad is terrible.

As long as there's a Triforce, there will be a Zelda;
as long as there's a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil bent on destroying it;
and as long as there's an oppressive force threatening Hyrule, there will be a boy...

in a green tunic, silver shield, and magic blade to stand against it.

Not all of it. Sadly most of it hasn't been in print for a long time. I could just download it...

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Digger's such a sleazeball. It's also where Deadshot really came into his own, SS is basically his book, he's the Wolverine.

While the New 52 Squad isn't nearly as good, I'm just happy to get a healthy dose of Deadshot, Waller and Boomerang on a monthly basis. Plus, you never know who's gonna get drafted into Task Force X, or who's gonna get dead.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Did you read Secret Six? That had plenty of Deadshot to go around. Plus its one of the best comics ever.

Speaking of Waller and Task Force X, have you read Checkmate by Greg Rucka? The one that spun out of Infinite Crisis.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

concept feels kinda outdated though. Suicide Squad worked in the 80s perfectly because it was shocking and new, and had John backing all the issues. In the copper age you kinda felt more a shift and need for exposure of the seedy underbelly of comic books and politics.

Honestly I feel Secret Six or Superior Foes is more in tune with the atmosphere today. Basically a mix of dark humour and quirky everyday stuff

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Love me some Secret Six. I hope you guys have read Villains United as well, I'm gonna assume so.

I did follow Checkmate following that whole Countdown to Infinite Crisis dealy. As a JSA mark was cool to see Sentinel and Mr. Terrific in a different setting.

There's a book I've yet to see get mentioned in this thread, also with wonderful runs by Geoff Johns, JSA and the subsequent short-lived reboot Justice Society of America. Need to read Earth 2 as I'm under the impression it will lead to the current JSA incarnation.
