Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Seph we are in the middle of a very serious discussion

As I was saying, so basically Superman never actually fought Darkseid until Byrne got his hands on him? Thats amazing. How? You'd imagine a character first discovered in a peripheral Superman comic and constantly called the God of Evil to eventually have a huge fight with Superman

What about the Big Barda/Superman sex tape? I thought Darkseid had a hand in that?

I don't think Superman and Darkseid ever met when Jack Kirby was doing the book. I think Superman might have seen him on a TV screen or something but they never had a conversation. I'm 99% that was Great Darkness Saga.

In the late 60s or early 70s I wanna say? it was revealed that the Justice League was founded by Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Black Canary. They used that origin for a long time. Mark Waid even wrote JLA Year one with that origin.

They fought in Great Darkness Saga. Superman was still a teenager but it was still in continuity because he used to time travel with the Legion. They never fought because the Fourth World was never a big hit and most people in DC disliked the characters. It wasn't until they reprinted the New Gods and Kirby did the Hunger Dogs graphic novel in the 80s that there was a revival in interest.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

I cant believe how badly they wrote Darkseid in the new 52. He goes down in one of the insane over the top ways in Final Crisis, and then returns as 'big scary alien man' in Justice League. Its disgusting

Morrison's exploration of Darkseid as a living idea and concept was so interesting. You genuinely believed he was a New God. A being beyond us and our comprehension

I just hope Orion gets proper treatment with Azzarello

Saw the adverts, ugh.

One of my least favorite heroes, can't see liking the WB treatment on a weekly.

That issue where Darkseid utterly humiliates the Green Lantern Corps is so good

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Finished Batman Earth One today. It is quite strange to be able to see Batman's eyes most of the time, but I got used to it. Liked the story too overall.
