Wellll, he didn't technically advocate it. He said "maybe". They would have died even if he wasn't there, I think thats the point he's trying to make even if he doesn't outright say it that way. Kind of like Clark is messing with the future for having such a big impact on what happened.

I could be dead wrong though and maybe just looking far too into it lol
