Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

I read Grimm Fairy Tales vol 12 and Bloodshot: The Rise and the Fall.

Bloodshot was pretty damn good. Yeah the whole government making superhuman assassins is old hat, but even good writing can make an old concept good and this book does that. The agency that controls the superhumans makes the ones in DC and Marvel look almost tame in comparison. Hell some of the people operating the place range from scary to body horror. We learn a little more about Bloodshot and his past. I like this mystery. Next is a tie in to Harbringer Wars. Umm, is it a good idea to do a crossover event this soon?

GFT was dark this time. While this is nothing new, this issue boarder on Wonderland dark. Sela is now in prison after the end of vol 11, a prison known as The Shoe and after what has happened, doesn't want to leave, despite the efforts of a well meaning, yet naive case worker. Of course, there is a tough chick that wants to take her out, but this time there is a twist. The most surreal part is when Sela is put into the Abyss (The Shoes version of the hole) and well, its pretty horrifying. This vol was pretty refreshing though after the long and my opinion drawn out Myst arc.

I'm pretty sad that Venom is getting cancelled.

It ended when Remender left imo

As long as there's a Triforce, there will be a Zelda;
as long as there's a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil bent on destroying it;
and as long as there's an oppressive force threatening Hyrule, there will be a boy...

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

My brother just gave me a belated birthday present: a hardcover special edition of Watchmen signed by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. I'm pretty chuffed. I say he 'gave' it to me; he sent me a photo of it. He lives in Berlin and he's flying it over next week. He reviews comics online, and was given a tour of the DC HQ a few years ago. He also introduced me to Jeff Lemire (literally - we went for a pint) and Jamie McKelvie. I've had a pretty good month as far as comics go. I managed to pick up Contagion and No Man's Land volumes 1-5 for less than twenty quid the other day. Haven't had time to read them yet, though.

Did you ask Jeff Lemire why can't he do Sweet Tooth forever and ever?

He was still writing it at the time. If I'd known he was thinking of wrapping it up, I'd have tried to talk him out of it. I love Sweet Tooth. Did you read The Underwater Welder?
