Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

I got Infinite Crisis, Astonishing X-Men, Watchmen, and Kingdom Come.

Infinite Crisis was kind of spur of the moment.

But I'm happy with what I got.

I'll order the rest of the stuff I want off Amazon.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Every story was six issues long because of trade paperbacks whether or not they needed to be. In comparison, Grant Morrison's first story introduces evolved Sentinels, Cassandra Nova (who is ten times better than any villain Whedon has created), secondary mutations, kills 18 million people, and has Emma Frost join the X-Men and that's only in three issues. It never feels rushed either.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

The beginning of Morrison's X-Men is fantastic for sure and I agree it's better than anything that happens in Astonishing. Later on though, not so much.

In fact, I kinda wish I never even read the middle to end portion of that run.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Yeah but you can't deny that a lot more actually happens. For someone who's entire run was a tribute to Claremont he Whedon certainly didn't get the Claremont structure and pacing right.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Yeah I admit I'm actually having a problem remembering what actually happens in Astonishing. Prof X was relegated to being just some douchebag too right? If so, I didn't like that at all. Worse than the Danger Room.

Fantomex was great. The Clockwork Orange gang was ok too. Didn't like the U-Men and hated the future bullshit. Also Emma and Scott making out at Jean's grave.

Don't worry, it wasn't the real Jean Grey's grave (shes been dead since 1980).
