Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Image really is the best at the moment. Forget Witchblade, Darkness, Spawn, or whatever. Check out Saga, Revival, Manhattan Projects, Thief of Thieves, Pax Romana, Peter Panzerfaust, Happy!, or Chew.

And those are just the new(ish) comic series'.

Also, comics do suck now, lets not be afraid to say it

Edit: WWE sucks too but it was never good in the first place.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

tbf comic books have always been a lowest common denominator medium composed almost entirely of guys that couldnt get jobs in more respectable businesses. its never really been "good" as much as its had moments of accidental genius. i mean id hesitate to call this issue of justice league of america from the 70s that i just read "good" by any storytelling metric but it at least entertained me which is more than i can say about the new justice league

“I would say that the comic book market is the worst market that there is on the face of the earth for creative talent and the reasons are numberless and legion. I have had many talented people ask me how to get into the comic book business. If they were talented enough the first answer I would give them is, ‘Why would you want to get into the comic book business?’ Because even if you succeed, even if you reach what might be considered the pinnacle of success in comics, you will be less successful, less secure and less effective than if you are just an average practitioner of your art in television, radio, movies or what have you. It is a business in which the creator, as was mentioned before, owns nothing of his creation. The publisher owns it….”

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

wrestlings pretty awful but at least there are places in the world like japan where its treated like a respectable medium instead of a joke (at least until MMA took over)

then again i guess you could say that about comics too

im not a huge fan of v for vendetta but ive always wanted to read it in black and white since apparently the original comics were published in black and white and the artist doesnt care for the coloring job

i dont think theres any way to do that though since dc's lawyers locked up every version that wasnt the Graphic Novel™ version

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

So is AJPW in the 90's basically Vertigo for the past 25 years?
