Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

Is that whole rant on AvX? If so, let's talk about Bone or Will Eisner or Bernie Wrightson, or anything that isn't absolutely awful.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

yes. fuck marvel. fuck bendis

Morrison wasnt kidding when he called his first arc 'E is for extinction'. I mean jesus, even he wiped out so many mutants I loved what he did with new ideas and the concepts of mutants as cool or as a subculture.

Unbelievable, in a time where diversity is more emphasised than ever, Marvel cant come up with a better idea than making everyone and their grandma an avenger and exterminating an entire race

X men were once the most popular comic franchise on earth!

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

the ending to avx i wanted to see was magneto getting the phoenix force and turning back into the bad guy magneto and ruining peoples shit with phoenix magnetism powers but marvel would never do that because a bad guy action like a bad guy is so passe

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

I know you bought and read The Spirit, but is that the only way to read that stuff? How is great is Contract with God? This isn't rhetorical as I haven't read it.

I'm having a hard time starting Byrne's FF. Kinda disappointed. Not that it's bad, I just can't get into it so far.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

DC collected the entire thing in hardcovers. Most of them are out of print now, but they can be found for 20 bucks or so a piece. They get really good at vol 13 (which is 80 bucks now but most of them are a lot less). Volumes 1-6 are the early stuff and are really good. Volumes 7-12 are when Eisner was fighting in WW2 and suck and everything after that is when the book was in it's golden age. DC also did a Best of the Spirit paperback but I don't have it so I can't comment on the reproduction quality or what stories are in it.

Byrne's best Fantastic Four issues are 242-262. Those are the classics.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

MisterMr, check out Darwyn Cooke's The Spirit. He writes and illustrates. It's the best Spirit run since Eisner.

Have you read the Spirit stories that Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons did.

Stuff like #11 is why I haven't purchased an X-Men comic in months.

Re: Comics and Graphic Novels Vol. 2

honestly, you know what i think?

i think marvel just doesnt like the idea of heroes

The biggest example is cyclops getting an immense amount of power, and using it for good. Sound familiar? Ofcourse it should, its THE SAME FUCKING THING THATS HAPPENED TO EVERY HERO IN MARVEL HISTORY

I dont see spider-man or iron man or even fucking thor getting hunted down like an animal
