Ahh yes, the contrasting opinions. Here you were praising the movie like it was the greatest thing since Moses parted the waters (slight exaggeration?) and I simultaneously post my bit ranting about Ryan Gosling's incessant Cerebral Palsy-like Blank Staring throughout the whole thing. Polarising to say the least. lol

I think asdf and I are the only ones that oppose the Drive Army at this point, let's just say that our strength in numbers equate throwing firecrackers at the Maginot Line.

Eh, disagreement is healthy imo. Plus between you and asdf you both approach and tackle disagreeing in a professional and respectful manner and ensure the debate is centred purely on the themes and motives of the movie and how both sides take different approaches and reactions from what they saw. Its only when a back and forth turns into petty insults and strawman arguments that it becomes bothersome, something which thankfully this thread continues to avoid.

I'd sooner relish discussing contrasting views on a film instead of merely agreeing with everyone that said movie is wonderful. It always allows for a second watch to re-evaluate your stance in light of another person's take on scenes and visuals that astounded you but left them feeling empty and unmoved.

Disagreeing in a professional and respectful manner? Never heard of it.

Blade Runner stinks. (that's not even fair for the joke. I don't hate it at all. What's something I hate...oh. Fuck Life of Pi. Yeah, things got un-civil quickly there.)

Oh Cody, never missing an opportunity to literarily rape my beloved Blade Runner.

Very well said. I love disagreements because they make way for an alternate opinion that you might not've considered. asdf and I had thesis long disagreements, and it was always more fascinating than bothersome. One in particular that sticks out in my mind was something was argued about concerning the Free Market and Anarchism from a thread back relating to Hugo Chavez's death. That sumbitch lasted a while, but we both learned new things from it, same with something as simple as Nolan's Batman that we argued on which turned into a complete dissection of the man's career lol. As long as there's a mutual respect established then it's all good. Strawmanning serves no other purpose than to stave off a losing argument, never accomplishes Jack shit.

Truth is being spoken ITT. I remember this guy coming in and dissing Lynch and I argued why it was Lynch was great and that this particular person misunderstood what Lynch was doing, and he just made a terrible comment about Lynch having stupid hair or something and left. I hate shit like that.

To be fair though, Lynch's appeal is entirely in the fingers. The hair is overrated.

Jesus, has anyone seen the remake of Maniac starring Elijah Wood? Pretty impressive soundtrack, that Rob guy is very talented. It's very similar to Drive's OST.
