Speaking of that style of film, is Hobo with a Shotgun worth viewing? Had it ready to watch for ages now but never got around to it.

I enjoyed Hobo with a shotgun, but not as much as Machete. Its even more grindhousey, absurd and less polished than Machete. Plus the kid from Small Soldiers was the bad guy and it greatly amused me.

Will probably give Hobo a watch at some point, in that sort of mood where the next film I'd rather watch is some pure mindless film rather than a heavy narrative film. I'll probably start watching a few more 'deeper' films soon enough though. Bubz's recent posts have me inkling to watch some classic filmwork.

Hobo with a Shotgun is amazing. I like it more than Machete actually. It's more over the top and ridiculous. I mean if you're going to do a stupid action movie just turn it up to 11. Hobo share more similarities with stuff like Toxic Avenger than it does Machete. Machete has superior T&A, that's it.

Just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. It was great, albeit quite confusing. Am I right in thinking the majority of the film took place in a parallel universe?

Been a long time since i've seen that movie and I remember it confusing the hell out of me until the end, but yeah.
