Funny thing is, QT said in interviews (and you can easily tell by just watching the movie) that he didn't wanna portray slaves just as victims. Spike is just butthurt he can't make a good movie to save his life.

Not to mention he always seems to have to play the hate card. Someone is always trying to spread hate or unjust outlooks towards black people in his eyes. Enough is enough already, Lee. Give it up.

It is, mostly thanks to Denzel. But that was 1992, over two decades ago.

Clarke is one of the better Aussie actors. You must see Brotherhood. Jason Isaacs is magnetic.

Duvall, easily. I agree with the comments about noticing DDL acting. You can see him ticking away. On the other hand, Robert Duvall is one of only two actors to have convinced me that I was watching a legitimately crazy individual (The Gingerbread Man), the other being Brando in Apocalypse Now. For more lesser known but brilliant Duvall stuff, I highly recommend The Twilight Zone episode ' Miniature', and the films ‘The Rain People’ and ‘The Lightship’. That’s a good deal of range

On the Lee vs. Tarantino argument, it’s interesting to note that Woody Allen thinks Spike Lee is a better filmmaker than himself.

Spike ranting on fucking movies? Yeah, what else is new?

But Do the Right Thing is still one of my favorites ever.

Oh, and Duvall > Day-Lewis

Woody > Spike + Quentin

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Quentin wins the comparisons here for me. Landslide, really.

tbhayley, Spike Lee isn't even a contender. Woody is fair game.

Tarantino over Spike Lee any day for me. Though I'd like to add that Lee also has another good film in '25th Hour' from 2002. Still nowhere near as many good films as Quentin.

Being a producer doesn't mean you paid for it. Executive producer, maybe. But a producer makes sure the production moves along and helps creatively. In other words, he and Raimi are helping guide it to something better. It's like having Christopher Nolan 'godfathering,' in a way, "Man of Steel" so Zack Snyder doesn't get too Snyder-y.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Blah. I will not put too much atention to the words of Woody or the ones of Spike, basically because is a classic of filmmakers to be really naive when they talk about each others

But he will get too Nolan-y wich is equally bad or maybe worse...
