Hanks tries to hard this "i'm an actor with a good range of interpretation" the faces and overreaction he does are almost comical. And the movie is too Spielberg (like all Zemeckis) wich means: Phony in the emotions department while repeating his message each and everytime possible in case you can't understanding it the first time

This and Paths of Glory. Nothing else I've seen comes close to these two films. There are lots of good war films but many of them have some sort of agenda or they're too sentimental or they overfilm everything in order to encapsulate the wide ranging emotion.
Didn't Paths of Glory does the same with his ending?
