Bubz you've seen Once Upon a Time in the West right?
Oh right lol. Fuck knows then.

Yeah I've seen it. Liked it, didn't love it. The OST is probably my favourite ever though, and some of the individual scenes are incredible. Overall though I didn't care about the story or characters and thought it was needlessly dragged out in places. I'd imagine that's a kind of unpopular opinion actually.

Best war movie: The Hurt Locker or Zero Dark Thirty

To me, both of them are pretty great despite the differences between the two.

neither of these are the best war movies; Zero Dark Thirty isn't a war movie also.

Best war movie, in my opinion, either "A Bridge Too Far" or "Paths of Glory".

Patton and Saving Private Ryan are up top too.

The Pianist
Schindler's List
Winter in Wartime
Valkyrie
Thin Red Line
Saving Private Ryan
Letters From Iwo Jima
Apocalypse Now

Are all better movies than those two. Zero Dark Thirty is a good movie but not one of my favorite war movies.

So... Eraserhead. Yeah. Huh.

That's all.

EDIT: Unrelated to war films, obviously. Would like to hear some thoughts. Still trying to make up my own.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Apocalypse Now is one of my favourite films ever, so naturally it's going to be my favourite war movie.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Thought i'd make a top 20. Not a big fan of movies that are too heavy on propaganda and revisionist history, so that obviously affected the list. Wow, again, not easy to compile.

1: The Deer Hunter (1978)

2: Apocalypse Now (1979)

3: Under the Flag of the Rising Sun (1972)

4: Kanal (1957)

5: Devils on the Doorstep (2000)

6: Ran (1985)

7: Hamburger Hill (1987)

8: Andrei Rublev (1966)

9 Fires on the Plain (1959)

10 Joyeux Noel (2005)

11 Prisoner of the Mountains (1996)

12 Barry Lyndon (1975)

13 The Desert of the Tartars (1976)

14 Kagemusha (1980)

15 The Caine Mutiny (1954)

16 Story of a Prostitute (1965)

17 Paths of Glory (1957)

18 Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004)

19 Patton (1970)

20 Bullet in the Head (1990)
