Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

gonna finally see Hitchcock tonight, skimmed a few reviews and not expecting to be blown away but interested anyway.

Fun fact- the director is the same guy who made that great Anvil doc and has an illegitimate kid with Ginger Spice.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Some people will compare Hitchcock to The Girl and Hopkins and Jones in their performances, which is expected because they are playing the same guy. I think Hitchcock was better, though it was a different story. I think Jones and Hopkins were both great as Sir Alfred though, hard to decide who played him better.

Can't go wrong with Beasts of the Southern Wild and Tree of Life, that's the type of timeless movie someone can watch decades from now and it'll still have a powerful effect on you. As for Drive, I talked against it several times on here, but I do see a certain quality about it and I understand how some people could love it. I can certainly respect the fact that opinions vary.

Had Seven Psychopaths as my favorite 2012 movie on that thread Charlie Bronson made, but I think BOTSW might actually best it the more I think about it.

I'd just like to throw my hat in and say The Tree Of Life is awesome.

I did indeed. That scene was great. Any scene that consists of a hated outsider winning over a crowd of hundreds of people to the point that they all chant his name is an amazing scene, but this was Kurt Russell so it was even better.

Third one is the worst, to me. Hated it. I grew up loving the second best but really appreciated the first as a true classic as I got older and the best in the series.. Still like DH2 a lot. Third is garbage. Fourth has some decent stuff in it but needed to be rated R. I mean... if McClane is swearing like a sailor 15-20 years ago, when he older and senile, you'd think he'd be swearing more. With that blasphemy of reality in mind, nothing compares to the suspension of belief in the 5th.

Still holds up for me. I'm not one for someone "ruining the classics." There's no tradition with me.
It's the liberal criminologist's POV study on psychopaths: he was made evil, not born it. To me, that was unnecessary. Carpenter's stands up; Zombie's doesn't.

Hitchcock isn't great but certainly a lot of fun. And Anvil: The Story of Anvil rules.

Plus, who doesn't have a bastard kid by Ginger Spice? Lucky bastard. Both of 'em.

Oh, wait. That's Scary Spice.

May the odds be ever in your favor...

Because I call first dibs on this.
