Watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou for the first time in 7 years. Love that movie, especially the soothing atmosphere and the style. Nothing special, just a nice ode about finding inner peace.

P.S. Bill Murray is a god.

I concur about Bill Murray. Anyone seen Moonrise Kingdom? He's good in that and it's a fun little film.

Love Life Aquatic too. Wes Anderson's ode to Buckaroo Banzai's ending with Bowie's Queen Bitch playing always makes me smile.

In the Mouth of Madness is his last really good movie. It's a few years after They Live.

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to. Wes + Bill is the way to go. And holy shit at the rest of the cast: Bruce, Keitel, Frances, Norton, Bob Balaban...

Wes Anderson has gotten too quirky for his own good, in my own opinion. He injects too much of himself rather than just a niche style. Too much of him in the equation.

May the odds be ever in your favor...

Because I call first dibs on this.

Haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom yet but he can't be worse than Tarantino can he? I mean as far as obviously injecting himself into the writing/production.

Yeah it's a top cast. Norton is great especially. It's no Royal Tennenbaums, but it's good.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Talking about Bill Murray, more People need to see Broken Flowers. And Moonrise Kingdom is great, a director is his style and even being conscious Wes has develop a great sense of what work and what not, he is the only one of the last indy crop who is valuable. Still he doesn't surpass The Tenenbaums but that is a difficult task

I believe that Prince Of Darkness, Vampires and Ghost of Mars are great movies. The only ones i will call shitty or average are Village Of The Damned and Memoir of an Invisible man, but that has Chevy Chase so obviously will suck

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Haven't seen Ghosts of Mars, but Vampires is ok, not quite as goofy/good as something like They Live, but pretty goofy tongue in cheek horror nonetheless. Prince of Darkness is pretty good too, but it was before In the Mouth of Madness.

I've seen Broken Flowers - it's an underrated film. I think Bill Murray is one of the only actors that could have played that role, he really pulls off that 'sadsack' character.
