I just thought it wasn't a Pixar film i was watching. The animation is beautiful but you've come to expect that from Pixar, so that's nothing to write home about.

But the story was terrible as were the unlikeable characters and tiresome humor. For an animated flick it's not the worst but for an effort from Pixar it's downright awful.

Parker with Jason Statham and J.Lo is really good. From the trailer, it sucked but the movie is pretty good

In the good, you got this great surrealism secuences of his dreams (like in spellbound) and there are 2 or 3 jokes that are great if you're really into cinema.
Was interested by this before I read reviews and started hearing bad things. Oh well.

Watching No Country For Old Men on Bluray right now since nothing else to do. That first scene with Anton when he is on the ground with the cop. Just looking at his facial expression you knew how awesome he was gonna be. Might watch Avengers afterward and possibky Dark Knight since these are the only Blurays I got.

*shop scene was great. No wonder TwoFace is one of my fave villains and why Dark Knight is the best out of the Batman trilogy.

I just watched Looper for the first time and I was very impressed. A very smart film with an extremely engaging story. Plus the kid in it (who's only 7 years old) is absolutely brilliant. He's going to be a star.

So i Finally begin with my Carpenter project. And we start with:

Dark Star
So this is John Carpenter debut and you get a clue here of a recurrent theme into his filmography: this idea of a man or a group of men being sorrounded by a unknown force wich tries to exterminate them(the clasical idea of Hawks in Rio Bravo). In this case this role is being do it by the space and the technology.

Is a begining into the way he will devolp latter but even this idea is less specific, this group of people is alone in the space and they loniless and imposibility to comunicate between them is what tear them apart, so their enemy is more themselves than the situation.

The camera work is classical Carpenter but you don't get to see nothing from style or asceticism because aparrently the budget was really short, but there are great moments like the large secuence with the mascot of the ship and you are able to see the classical ironic humor sense of the man.

The country themes are also pretty ACE and work incredbily well for a science fiction movie, also there is a little tribute or reinterpretation of the relation Human-Computer saw it in 2001

So yes, this is probably a minor Carpenter but is his debut and like all the debuts you're just pulling and opening your ideas. And don't get confused, but no means is a bad movie

Next movie: Assault on Precinct 13

Ranking:

1- Dark Star

The Avengers was MOTY.

Oh and I haven't seen any talk about the Man of Steel trailer here. Am I the only one who dislikes the whole grey color scheme? Feels so un-Superman.

DJANGO.

You know what. That is all.

really though this film was terrific. Waltz does it for me again. It doesn't matter if he's a hero or a villian. He always ends up being your favorite character.
