No, you're not alone. I watched the Avengers, and I didn't think it was any more special than every other Marvel movie that's come down the pike in recent memory. In fact, i've seen far better Marvel movies than this. Not going to completely shit on it, I think it's a decent and fun movie, but I don't see what made it so special. I certainly don't get some people's claim that this is the greatest super hero movie ever made lulz

As for Prometheus. If I could compare it to anything, i'd say it's a lot like Event Horizon to me. I didn't notice too many nonsensical moments, for the most part I was entertained while watching it in theaters. I think it's much better when you pick up on some of the subtle references Ridley throws in that are callbacks to mysteries in the original movies. The acting ranged from ok, good to great depending on who were talking about (Michael Fassbender is just fantastic as David, Noomi does a good job too) Most of the movie made sense to me. There was some dragging when it came to pacing, but it wasn't that bad. Special Effects were gorgeous, though i'm still more a fan of the Blade Runner-esque organic look rather than things being too synthetic. All in all, I think it's an entertaining movie, good even. Doesn't top my 2012 list, but I wouldn't consider it a waste of time for sci fi fans, and especially for fans of the Alien lore.

and how do you have The Wolf in your signature and not go see a Tarintino movie more than a month after it's release. I see every Statham movie (no matter how painful) within 2 -3 weeks of release. You people need principles.

I can't decide which battle is better: Helms Deep or the ROTK battle at Gondor.

So never saw Tiptoes before, but....

GARY OLDMAN PLAYS A DWARF.

Naturally, I had to watch it.

I didn't even bother to watch that. Let me guess, another generic blockbuster about babyfaces? No thanks.

Battle at gondor was better overall, but the ending of Helms Deep was awesome.

What pisses me off most about Prometheus is the fact that it grossed so well. Now, there are talks of Ridley Scott putting his planned Blade Runner sequel on the backburner in favor of a Prometheus follow up. FAWK! If Ridley gives into the almighty dollar at the expense of artistic integrity, i'll be one unhappy camper.
Ironically, Prometheus tackles more meanings behind Blade Runner than it does the Alien mythology.

May the odds be ever in your favor...

Because I call first dibs on this.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I'm interested in The Croods. Seeing the trailers kind of sparked a mild interest in things prehistoric.

@The Avengers talk that I'm late to
I thought it was a fun movie, nothing more. Seriously the message board for the Avengers in IMDB are full of fucking waterheads saying there's a philosophical meaning, brotherhood and other shit I apparently missed because again it was a fun movie.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Just about managed to sit through the Stone Cold film 'The Package', mostly thanks to the Dolph Lungren scenes. He's developed some intense screen presence in his old age.

Austin was Austin on valium and the script appeared written by somebody who only knows about 6 or 7 English words. Not really worth the time unless you're a big Dolph fan, but I did enjoy a funny continuity error where a cut and blood on the side of Austin's face switches sides during an incident with some bad guys.

The Android concept was first explored in the original Alien movie with 'Ash'. Unless you're referring to something else, that isn't a theme exclusive to Blade Runner.
