Movie studios want to aim for two things: the younger demographic of ages 12-16, or the older 'nostalgia' demographic.
This is why we are getting so many remakes/sequels/prequels recently - because it caters to the older generation that fell in love with the original films, but is also appealing to the younger generation that weren't around when the original films were released.

Action movies today are about Fast montages and trying to put everything they can in all the images, mixing this with potent and trascendental music, the idea is not let the crowd to rest. Take for example the Batman movies.
