The new Evil Dead movie looks insane. The red banned trailers are out and they are worth seeing if you're a fan of violence and gore.

The trailers look cool, but I'll make my own opinion when I see it. Hype, while works for the film financially, can be a bitch quality wise. I'm not trying to be negative, but people have high expectations for certain anticipated films and when their expectations aren't met they feel the film failed them. I'm interested, but I won't rush out opening day to see it.

Didn't seem too gory to me. Like a facial mutilation clip and that was it. I'm gonna watch no matter what.
Jane Levy + molesting TREE = watch.

Don't care to see the Evil Dead remake. The Bruce Campbell ones are super awesome and I don't need to see some watered down remake of it. No Bruce, no watch.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Bruce gave it the THUMBS UP. It's all I need. Besides, if it sucks, it sucks. No harm no foul. I think Evil Dead is the one where a bad remake can get a pass. b/c the real movies themselves are bad. only, they succeed via the campy elements.

Some people out there see the original as garbage due to the effects and some of the camp elements like when Ash was slapping the doll-faced deadite and "What happened to her eyes!"
The creators of the new film said there's no cgi, but I think they just said that due to horror fans despising it. I call BS.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
I'm not that excited to see the remake mainly because I'm a massive fan of the originals. Plus they're trying to give a really meaningful story to it. A girl addicted to drugs goes to get away from her troubles but then has to fight her demons, or some shit. That's how I read it. Plus they'll be no Ash character, that right there is a turnoff. So we're going to get no chainsaw arm? Shotguns? No "Groovy!"?
As for the first film that was brilliant cabin horror at it's best, with some good effects. The pencil in the ankle? Pretty well done for an 80s horror will little budget. The second I thought was just horror, mixed with a little bit of comedy. You just watch as Ash is driven insane by the book and what it does to him. Then the third just went for the laughs, which is no bad thing.
As for CGI in the new one. I've heard they'll be using it but at a minimum.

There is probably a good chance the movie will be a disappointment, I am still going to check it out. The rape scene in the woods looks like they used a ton of CGI. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those films where movie theaters crack down on minors seeing it.

I only watch the last two. They redid it in part 2 with much better effects and Army of Darkness was also awesome.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
The fact that it was able to stand out in the early 80s especially with the slasher genre in full bulldozer mode, makes Evil Dead that much more hol-blasphemous ( ) than most horror films.
I read that they brought in Diablo Cody as a script polisher or something. That's probably where that addiction thing comes from.
