I'm still waiting for them to make a Jurassic movie that's similar in tone to Michael Crichton's novel. It's said that Spielberg originally intended for Jurassic Park to be a similar horror-type movie like Alien was, but eventually opted to go the familly friendly route for better marketability. Not complaining, first one turned out great for what it was, the sequels were forgettable though.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Jurassic Park as horror would pretty much be Jaws on land.

Spielberg could've still played on his Shark fetish. All he had to do was throw in Bruce the mechanical Megalodon. lol

Just watched The Hobbit. Really loved it, although i'm a bit LOTR Mark. Although the first hour was a bit slow it never felt like it dragged, and the last hour was really really intense and fun. The golem scenes were perfect

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
As a five year old, watching Jurassic Park at a cinema, I found it to be pretty scary...
Never really cared for the second movie. But I did like Goldblum, as usual, and Pete Postlethwaite's character. As for the third... At least they had Grant back.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Jurassic Park III should have been about William H. Macy hiring Steve Buscemi and Sam Niell to kidnapp and strand his wife in the middle of Jurassic Park so he could hold his father in law for ransom.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Jurassic Park as horror was sort of directed by Crichton himself as Westworld. One of the most underrated movies of all time.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Sam Neill returning is the only thing Jurassic Park 3 had going for it, not even the updated CGI could save that piece of shite (I actually prefer the mechanical approach, CGI made the Dinosaurs look even more synthetic than in the first movie).

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Yeah JP II and III suck balls.
Just watched Silver Linings Playbook, it's really good. Great performances, music and a nice little story. De Niro back on world beating form warmed my heart completely, that man still has it in him to be a GOD. He provided the most powerful and emotional scenes imo. Bradley Cooper was excellent, really surprised at just how good he was. Jessica Lawrence was also fantastic, and INSANELY hot, that ASS, fuck me! Yeah, I really enjoyed it, and it's a nice way to spend a Saturday night.
