Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

The review I saw of Gangster Squad was pretty critical. Said you "go in expecting LA Confidential and getting Bugsy Malone" and won't appeal to anyone over 13, that Gosling is the "Indie Ken doll" and his chemistry with Emma Stone was "like getting two sad pandas to try and mate".

Slow motion is apparently ridiculously used.

Shush. I was hoping nobody else did.

First time I've seen it in years (since whenever Ross left).

I watch it every week pretty much. Winkleman is awful but I still enjoy the show. The guy usually seems to know his shit though.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Zero Dark Thrity was really good.
Spoiler for spoilers:
The build up (aka. the whole movie) was excellent. I liked every single person in the movie except the 2 main girls (Jessica Castain and the girl who blows up). Chastain was literally a whiny little girl the whole movie, right up till she says "motherfucker", and then she was cool for the reaming hour or so. I didn't she was any special and don't understand all the high praise for her. Her character couldn't decide if she was a strong female lead, a victim of sexism, or if she was a victim of the political games of Washington.

I literally almost screamed "You be better be a fucking suicide bomber!" during the part where the other main girl begs the soldiers to let the mole onto their base without being inspected. Sad thing is, that's probably how it would go down if there really was some high up enough official calling the shots (this is from my own personal MP experience). that fucking pissed me off the CIA had hired someone so fucking stupid.

I will point out that all the CIA girls were all really hot. That was good. Overall, I thought it was a quality movie and definitely not a popcorn flick and now understand why it was released in January instead of any other month.

I liked Foxx, Waltz, and Caprio in the movie. And I love how Tarintino kills off uber important and likable characters. It shows that no one character is above the rest of the film. Your response will be "they didn't kill of Foxx though?" well someone has to stay alive.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Spoiler for ZD30:
The best parts in the film were when an explosion happened. Seriously. The scene with the mole being allowed to enter the premises was the best in the film and after that the whole thing felt a little more tense. Up until that point I really didn't care for it. I also agree that Chastain really wasn't that great in it, she was better in Take Shelter honestly. Swearing once and hitting a table does not a great performance make.

Tarantino ain't no GRRM. But yeah the later scenes are pretty tense.

Seeing ZD30 tonight, pretty pumped. Jason Clarke is an awesome actor he was one of the few good things about the disappointing "Lawless" so I'm excited to see him in a more prominent role.
