If it isn't my favorite film of 2013, then it's a failure. Overblown comment. But, yeah, I'm wildly excited to see what they'll pump out this time around.

2013 appears to be the year of the sequels for me. I count about 4 I consider "must see".

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Since someone brought up Inland Empire, I thought I'd give my two cents... I think it's probably Lynch's worst movie (unless you count Dune as a David Lynch film). I think the film is very messy and way too long. It just needed better editing and I felt like Lynch didn't have much to say with it. If anything, it seemed blatant that the guy was merely experimenting. It also feels like a total rehash of his previous films which were much better, Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway.

Either way, here is my top 5 from his work:

Eraserhead
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Mulholland Drive
Wild At Heart
Blue Velvet

in no particular order. Lost Highway is his most terrifying film I think, and his darkest. I think the first half is brilliant, but I wasn't so crazy about the entire sequence where the main character's identity changed. I'm fine with the concept itself, I just thought it paled in comparison to the way the film started out.

His most underrated may very well be The Straight Story.

In fact it's the inverse. Lynch always wanted to do a movie like Inland Empire, wich is seen in his shorts and at begining of his carreer with Eraserhead. The problem always was that Lynch knew that doing a movie like Empire will be too risky and probably a flop that will cost him the possibility of doing more movies. Finally the Successes of Mulholland drive was the reason to decide him to make the movie

But it seems he was right because the only ofert he has now is a rehash of Twin Peaks

I disagree. Out of the Lynch I've seen, I think it's far and away his best film, infact I'd go as far as to say it's my favourite film of the entire 00's too. It's an amazing piece of work imo.

Like a bonus, the theme Ghost of love in the movie is sing and composed by Lynch himself.
