Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I'm watching Django Unchained tomorrow. Watched Reservoir Dogs the other day. Kinda annoying with all the gratuitous dialogue. It works best when it's following the actual story. Pink and White trying to figure shit out is the strength. Blonde torturing Marvin Nash still works too. Most scenes just don't amount to much. From the time Pink shows up to Orange killing Blonde, the movie is great. Orange's backstory is a good idea, but it gets bogged down in bloated dialogue.

Pulp Fiction is much more coherent.

Thorin Oakenshield > Aragorn? Both are pretty badass. Thorin charging the pale orc through the flames was kinda awesome.
I really liked it too. Wouldn't say Thorin is better than Aragorn, but that scene was so fucking badass!

Been a while since I saw Reservoir Dogs, but last time I watched it I still loved it. I've always preferred Pulp Fiction but I never thought 'Dogs was too far behind it.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Ben Affleck just got snubbed for Best Director. And it seems like they have a major boner for Silver Linings Playbook.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Yeah I hoped Affleck would get a director nod, but at least Argo got one for best film. Beasts Of The Southern Wild nominated for Film, Director and Actress is really unexpected but so awesome! Only thing's that annoyed me was Holy Motors and The Imposter getting completely snubbed for foreign film and documentary. Not sure about Amour being nominated for both best film and best foreign film either, seems a little unfair.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Watched The Untouchables last night. Great film, great cast. Kevin Costner was great as Ness, and Di Nero was good as Capone, just wish we'd seen more of him. Wonder how it would have turned out had they stuck with Bob Hoskins. I thought Hoskins was BRILLIANT in The Long Good Friday, so would have been interesting to see him as Al Capone. But the director or something was set on Nero even though he was asking for too much money and shit, and would only have like a 2 week window to film his parts between other movies lol.

Saw a trailer for Gangster Squad when I saw the hobbit a couple of days ago (great film), and I thought it was a remake of The Untouchables. Might as well be lol. Then at least the title wouldn't have sounded so shit .

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Yeah it does look very similar to The Untouchables. That is a great film btw.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Best moment on The untouchables by far is the recreation of the Odessa steps scene in Battleship Potemkin with the baby carriage.
